Question about True GDM-23FC-RF Refrigerator Commercial

3 Answers

I have a Dixie Narco cooler, model DGM-56. It is a one door glass door cooler, meaning you open the door, grab what you want, then close the door. Everyhting was going fine, until we had a power surge, which tripped the outlet the cooler was plugged into. I reset the outlet and the cooler fired right back up. But now it will not keep a steady temp for very long. I had a repairman come out and he checked the refrigerant, which was fine. He "jumped" the thermostat, and you immediatley heard the compressor start. The cooler got to 13 degrees! The repairman said he saw a burn mark on the thermostat lead and recommended I replace it. I got a "universal" thermostat from a local applicance store, but it wouldn't cool. So I ordered another thermostat from Dixie Narco, which I received and installed today. While the unit was apart, I plugged in the cooler and it started, no problems. Cooled to 39 degrees. I replaced all the inside trim and shelves and moved the cooler back into the space next to the wall. Now, 3 hours later, it's only cooling to 55 degrees. What gives?

Thanks for the response. When I contacted Dixie Narco, the parts girl said the one that was originally in the unit was discontinued and replaced with a GE thermonstat. Here is the number from the invoice: 80280065021. The original thermostat part number is 802800460.01 I have the thermostat turned all the way up and now at 42.3 degrees.

Tim, thanks for the response. I ordered the thermostat from Dixie Narco on 31 Aug and was told the original thermostat (number 802800460.01) had been discontinued and replaced with a GE thermostat, part number 80280065021. I have the thermostat all the way open and the cooler is at 42.6 degrees right now.

The Dixie Narco rep stated these thermo's were to be discontinued as well, when the current supply was deleted. I just checked the cooler - ther thermo is wipe open and is at 42.6 degrees.

Can anyone offer a solution? The temp control unit did have the thermostat wire that runs up to the coils. No other thrmostat present.

  • copsnrobbers Sep 07, 2009

I have two thermometers in the cooler. One is a digital readout and another is a conventional readout. I was gone Sat/Sun and the cooler is at 48 degrees.

  • copsnrobbers Sep 07, 2009

Hi, and thanks for the response. I have replaced the thermostat - three times. I think the unit won't use any "universal" type thermostats - that is all I have been able to find here locally.

I am hoping someone would be able to cross reference the original thermostat and provide a replacement that would be compatible.

First thing I want you to do is 'verify the actual' temp with a separate thermostat. Get a fridge thermometer from the hardware store and put it in the cooler and lets see what is going on. I have a feeling the temp readout is the 'real' problem.

Either you have a bad thermostat or the sensor is in the wrong place , any chance of that? I would go with a regular fridge thermostat and just replace it. That is the control and as you said, it's open and not turning on the compressor. Replace it.

Go to repairclinic.com and put the model number in the search field. They may pull up the original thier. for you.

You replaced the temperature control (the assembly behind the knob) the real thermostat is caller Temperature Sensor, and it is wired to temp control and located behind fridge firewall.

You can find the part here, give them a call to get tech support on specific vending unit.

Please, do not forget to leave feedback.

Thanks.

Man oh man, that's a nasty one, can you give me the part number of the thermostat you received? I believe there are a few that would work in this unit, different revisions that is.

Thanks, let me know and I will help you out here.

PDF manual for a Dixie Norco 180/105-5

Well, the Dixie NARCO 180/105-5 appears to be a vending machine, not a bicycle, but a simple Google search for it provides plenty of resources, including the link below regarding a service manual: Dixie Narco Service Manual Try Google next time - works great.

The bill acc. blinks 3 times, bill & cion mechs have been changed, still blinks three times. won't take any money or vend.

Try it without the bill acceptor attached to get the machine working. You did not say what kind of acceptor but three flashes often mean a bad sensor in the unit. Another possibility is that it is disabled from the vendor. Check that all the columns have returned to home position if it is a bag vendor. If it is a pop machine then take off the metal cover over the vend motors and CAREFULLY push down on the microswitches to see if the motors run. Pop may fall out as you do this so watch for it. After running all the motors or homing out all the columns try you machine again. You will probably have to get the bill acceptor fixed though.

Yes the new refrigerants can be used, however you must be EPA Certified. Also why would it need re-charging ? Leaks must be repaired.

I broke the glass rear or hatchback window on my 99 Mitsubishi Montero Sport truck. Even after the glass shattered the panel still opened and closed for the few days before I took the truck to the...

If your unable to open the rear door you should just be able to remove the inner door liner from inside the truck, climb over the back seats. Once the inner door panel is removed (remove all hardware, handles and such) the panel should pull off. To do so grab the pavel at the outter edge and pull away. As you pull away feel for where the fasteners are and concentrate your force of pulling there, pop out each one, one at a time. After removing remove plastic film and look into the inner door, it is there you should find your problem.

I hope this may have assisted you,
Tom

I own a Kenmore stove model #639539J2. The glass

yes. open the oven door to the first "click". it kind of stops about a quarter of the way open. most ovens you grab both sides of the oven door and pull up. some models have a couple of screws you have to take out before you can remove the oven door. then lay it down with the insie of the door facing up and take out all the screws holding the oven door together. some may be on the sides or the top and bottom of the door. when apart, clean first with easy off, then clean several times with windex till streaks are gone. assemble door in reverse and put back on stove.

Magic chef wine cooler

That means couple of things. The cooler's glass door is poorly insulated, and the cooler is placed in a humid environment. To eliminate the sweating you can run a dehumidifier close to the cooler, or you can insulate the inside of the door with styrofoam but that's going to spoil the look of the cooler.

Cannot close vinotemp

The bottles are too long, and its probably hitting the glass. Try installing without it being double deep and see if that works.
