Question about Computers & Internet
Check where the power plug goes into the computer if the piece in the center is loose then it detached from the motherboard and the charger would not work. if thats the case then you need to soder the 3 prongs from the plug back to the motherboard.

I wouldn't go soldering anything to your motherboard, first of all. There are WAY too many things packed too tightly together on laptop motherboards to be doing that, unless you work on laptops everyday.
With the Aspire 5315 laptops made by Acer (the most common I've seen), the cooling fan is right by the power jack, so all the heat being put off by your CPU is being blown right onto the power adapter. Enough consistent heat can cause a short in just about any wiring, and the Acer brand is known for using materials that have a slightly high failure rate than others. If the ground shorts into the hotwire, you will not have a green light on the adapter. If, however, the adapter is simply not grounding at all (say, the ground has become disconnected but isn't touching anything that is getting electricity), your green light that says your adapter is find will come on, but your laptop won't charge or power-up (it requires both a ground and a hotwire).
So, diagnosis? I would think that your ground has become disconnected, most likely in the jack itself, since that's where most of the heat is (on the common Acers, anyway). That's a tricky soldering job, but I've done it before. That's actually how I powered mine back up before finally shelling out the bucks to buy a new one. Simplest solution is to buy a new power adapter. Once again, it's best not to go soldering anything to your motherboard.
Hope that helps. :)
