If you have a micrometer you could measure the size difference but if you dont you go with the next size over normally which would be the .25

Pulsar 220 Bike emits little smoke even after Rebuild, how do I fix?

Did you clean the bore REALLY REALLY good with hot soapy water and a brush before assembly? Need to remove all the grit from the honing process. Test by rubbing hard with a white cloth. It MUST still be white after rubbing. If not then clean it again. It will wear out the rings quickly if it's not right. Solvent will not clean it properly.

26hp kohler engine started smoking suddenly. still runs good.whaat would cause this problem.

Head gasket blown. This is a very common issue with these V twin Kohler engines. There is a kit you can order from Kohler that includes gaskets and new improved head bolts. Simple hand tools is all that is needed. You will need an inch pound torque wrench. Torque specs are included in the kit.

I had a similar experience with a 1970 Plymouth Duster, at 10 years old (1980) I flushed the engine and started running a little bit higher detergent oil and it also started smoking as you described, turned out with the engine as clean as it got the clearances of different internal oil retaining parts such as valve guides and piston rings were slightly bigger causing my engine to smoke,

Low oil & smokes - 2yrs old

The piston rings need to be replaced. The cylinder might need to be bored out bigger, then put in
a bigger piston.

Hope this helps.

I'm working on a kohler cv730s 25 hp engine came in with bad rings smoked alot put new rings .08 o/s is all anyone stocked new valve seals head gaskets ran the engine at idle shut it down waited 15 min...

you need to replace the cylnder and rings at same time.

Just replacing the rings with a worn cylnder will not stop oil leakage and blowby.

I rebuild my engine an it is smoking when running. I intall new pistons and rings. I think that the problem are the rings that have to be a size greater than standard (.25)?????? HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?...

first you should have check your engine block to see what wear it had before you buy new piston. that will determin what oversize piston and rings to used , will if it come to that , it areally waste of work done

1974 TX500, high idle, white smoke from breather tube

The idle problem is a lean fuel mix caused by an air leak in the intake system. Bad gaskets /seals on the intake manifold, bad valves, bad piston rings, loose spark plugs, and bad head gasket are all things that can lean the fuel/air mix. The smoke indicates a need for new rings. I would have the cylinders bored then install new pistons and rings. Now finish the top end work by getting a valve job. You should get a liquid fuel tank liner to eliminate any rust problems in the future. Also, install an in-line fuel filter. Google “ kreem fuel tank liner “ or go to www.http://www.4secondsflat.com/Fuel_Tank_Sealer.html

My complements on the well cleaned carbs. Do the work mentioned above an you will effectively have a new engine.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!

Worried about the cylinder

Give the rings and cylinder some time to break in. They need to get to know each other.
