When screen changes to a black image you can see brightly colored pixels being flashed on & off. Just started doing it after 18mths old.

these artifacts are also seen in SD pictures but harder to detect.

We had the same problem. A rainbow of pixels would remain when the colour changed from light to dark. very annoying.

the fix described below fixed the problem (only the 188V was out by a little), though some scatter remains but it can only be seen when extremely close to the screen.

I was unable to test the 3.4V rail - could this be the cause of any problems if offset? I thought not as imagined this would be used only for the IR or switching...

Our scatter goes away when the power cord is removed for awhile. The problem returns a while later. Therefore, I thought that the problem was related to the power supply. Thanks

I have an older LG 106cm Plazma. Had the screen replaced 2 years ago after having lost vertical lines (common back then) now I have a new problem of white sparkels flashing around. They are worse on startup and seem to fade after a half hour. Most commonly it sparkles around dark colours. It seems the pixels are randomly losing their colour and flashing white based on the movement and brightness of the picture.

    Is this the same problem.

    Can it be fixed?

    Thanks alot

    Dave J

This is a problem we have seen on this particular unit. There are internal adjustment that must be done to correct this problem. This adjust is done on the power supply. There are VS, VE and VA adjust. Look on the interior of the Panel for voltage chart. Adjust these voltage accordingly.

Best regards

Increase in brightness & sometimes switch to "negative" momentarily

he Dell I'm using also has an adaptive brightness, regardless of the fact it does not have a light sensor. It just changes brightness of the screen depending on how much white/black is shown at that moment. Whenever I switch from a very dark to a very bright website I notice and increase/decrease in screen brightness. I'm running Windows 7 by the way.
Good Luck

I have an LCD TV. All of a sudden the picture colour has gone wierd. The best way to describe it is that it is similar to either a colour negative or one of those scientific 'false colour' images. This...

TFTs can produce a wide array of colors, but it takes an enormous number of transistors to make up a display, and a problem with any one of them creates a defective pixel on the screen. Typically this shows up as a bright spot on a dark background, caused by a damaged TFT failing to turn off a pixel. Most active matrix displays contain a few bad pixels, but a few bad pixels are not going to have much of an impact on the overall picture.
The properties of liquid crystal material can create problems with viewing angle effects, causing the image to darken, disappear, or reverse the dark and light tones when the viewer is not directly in front of the display (kind of like looking at the negative of a photo). The light bulbs make LCDs heavier than the plasma TVs (though they are still lightweights compared to CRT televisions.
Benefits of LCD TVs include a picture that can't burn in and doesn't deteriorate over time. Because of their flat-panel nature, placement options are plentiful, optimizing the cool factor over standard TVs
