Hello

the 5400 error is telling you there was excessive temperature in the printhead, and this error code will stop all printing attempts.

Unplug the power from the printer and leave it off for a hour and then check the pins inside the carriage and clean them and clean the contacts on the back of the head.

Also check the printer for paper stuck in the printer and remove it if so.
Check also the printer for dust and clean it if necessary.

Hi,

It appears the printhead on your printer is faulty in any case the printer will require service, contact canon for repair service.

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ServiceLocatorAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=13589
Please use this link to find a service location near you.

If you are outside of warranty, ask for a repair estimate, if its more than the price of a new printer, consider buying a new printer. When you call or email a service center, let them know the error code you receive.

If voicemail pro, you will need to navigate to the folder where your messages are stored on the pc, delete them, then stop/restart the vmpro services. If you dont know what I am talking about, I would call someone in that is a knowledgeable tech....

Error 5400 in my Printer Pixma MP 610

5400 is a temperature error that points to a new logic pcb, but the other day I had one that was caused by a bad printhead. If you can get it out, try powering up without the printhead installed, if it's bad, the error will change to no printhead and you can just pick up a new one.

Error 5400

5400 is an internal temperature error that usually shows up when the main logic board goes bad. The price to replace it is probably more than a new printer.

I have just replaced 2 ink tanks and they are in correctly. But after printing only one page which is slightly out of alignment up comes the error 5100 code. What happened ?

The print carrier is being interfered with. Take out the cartridges and make sure that there is nothing interfering with the movement of the carriage. The paper being askew indicates that there is something inside the printer interfering with the paper path and the 5100 message indicates the obstruction is also affecting the ink carriage.

Canon Pixma ip3000 flashing amber 6 times

If the 6 flashes are accompanied by an on screen message #5400, this is a "Service Call Error" code.

This code indicates the following;
Internal temperature error [5400]
The solution to this is the following part replacementl
- Logic board ***'y (QM2-1548) *1

*1: Before replacement of the logic board ***'y, check the waste ink amount (by service test print or EEPROM information print). If the waste ink amount is 7% or
more, also replace the bottom case unit (QM2-1205) or the ink absorbers (QC1-4222 / 4223 / 4224 / 4263 / 4264 / 4864 / 4221 / 4257) when replacing the
logic board ***'y.
[See Section 3-3. Adjustment / Settings, (6) Service mode, for details.]

Good luck!!!
