Question about Microwave Ovens
Should I bother to replace the magnetron? Is that simple? From what I've been told these have a tendency to go out after a couple of years. I really like this model but am I going to have problem after problem? Is there another model that is more reliable that you could recommend? I love the sensor cooking. Do you think my problem is the magnetron?
On a GE...with a louder than normal hum and not heating...most likely the mag, but could also be a shorted H.V. diode. Most of the time on those it's the mag, but you better have the diode replaced also even if it seems ok. Most GE's have 10yr warranty on the mag. If you don't know what you're doing leave servicing the high voltage circuit to the pros. Wouldn't want you to have a "shocking experience" or take the risk of exposing yourself/family to any radiation leaks.

The magnetron usually has a 5-9 yar warranty.
You might contact GE Customer Service at http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/contact/
Otherwise, what is the exact problem you're having?
