The CD player is on standby and it will turn itself on at random times
Use a surge protection power strip (such as the Power Protect AV 600 by Monster Power).
This will elliminate erratic behaviour of the unit, since even minute fluctuations in the power source from unbridled house current will affect the sensitive internal components of the Onkyo DX-C390 6-Disc CD Changer.
Open the unit with power unplugged. Remove the grey or aluminum metal type cover that keeps the front electronics and switches secured to the front of the unit. Clean all small switches by spraying contact cleaner on the small white switches. work the switches on and off for quite some time to get the spray or fluid worked in (none of this should be done with the unit on). replace all parts exactly how they were removed and try unit again. before trying push power button and stop button and then retry unit. Mine is working fine after doing this. I think dirt or dust gets in the switches due to infrequent use. Hope this helps.

Just turns itself on. Can get it to reset for a short period. Nothing short of unplugging unit stops the cycle.
If I leave the unit pugged in, it will come on by itself and go through random plays, pauses, etc., or just stay on and do nothing. Power and other buttons won't respond, and neither will the remote. These also work at random times, but only temporarily.
