check the fuse in the box usually inside the car under the dash. there should be a list on the cover showing you where the lighter fuse is. check it to see if it is blown.

Cigarrete lighter fuse

take fuse out,go to scrap yard check your amp rate (should be on the side of fuse) they will give you one for nothing if you are lucky, they cost nothing. if not go to your local elec store and ask for 5- 10 amp fuse wire and rap it round the two connections. If it blows (burns out the wire) you have a bigger problem. good luck

Chevrolet Equinox 2007 cigarrete lighter doesn't work, in the instruction manual there's no fuse related with the name (neither cigarrete lighters attachments work, fron and back). Do I have to check all...

To be on the safe side check them all...Because sometimes they tie in more than one circuit within one say for instance on some vehicles, the clock on the dashboard is tied into the cig. lighter..but the fuse panel wont say that...And make sure you check both sides of the may have power and no ground, or vice versa..and that depends on what kind of test light you have...

Cigarrete lighter not working, all fuses are okay.

See if you can actually pop the cigarrete lighter out of the console. There will be 2 connecting wires at the bottom. Chances are that upon hitting a bump hard or just through normal vibrations from being driven for almost 15 years, the connections may have came loose. Just slip them back on and it should be good to go. If not then the actual heating agent in the lighter may have gone bad as well.

2003 BMW X5 4.4L, cigarret lighter does not work

have you checked the fuse for the cigarret lighter in the fuse box. You should be able to look in the car manuel to see which fuse is the cigarret lighter then pull it out with either needle nose pliers or a provided fuse puller and check to see if the little wire inside the fuse is broken. if it is then replace that fuse with one of the same amperage rating. If not and you really want to get into it buy or borrow a volt meter with a continuity tester (checks if wires have breaks and shorts in them) and test contiuity from one lead of the cigarret lighter to the other with something plugged in and on that you know works like a phone charger. Then test from the positive lead of the battery to the positive lead of the lighter and the negative lead of the lighter and something grounded like the car's frame or a body panel that is bare metal like the floor board make sure you scrape a little paint off to test this.

1996 Camry LE 4 cylinder, cigarete lighter

If the cigarrete lighter plug still has power then is more likely a defective lighter. I've just replaced the lighter on my Tercel so I would suggest to borrow one to try the plug before buying a new one.
Good Luck.
