Question about Mitsubishi VS-50805 50" Rear Projection Television

Audio - No Video

My old reliable VS-50801 has suddenly begun to go black during viewing. If turned off for a bit, it's okay again, but is happening more frequently. What could be the problem? Is it worth fixing? NONE

Same problem. Trying to get a copy of the mitsu vs-50805 Service manual. Will take off the chasis and look for pools of liquid or dried up remnants as a first pass.

VS 50801 and VS 60801 mitsubishiAudio - No Video - 2.gif models (I have one each) have both had this problem develop after about 10 years of service. The picture simply started "Blinking" off after collapsing to a horizontal line - audio was still present. A simple fix to this problem is to space the yoke connector (7-pin white "Molex-type") away from the neck of the CRT (~1/8 ") . I used a plastic insulator. My 60" set had a problem with the center CRT (green) connector and thye 50" set had the same problem on the connector on the Left (red) yoke connector. The TV senses an open yoke circuit and shuts down all deflection drive. I only want a few more years of service from these sets, otherwise I would resolder the connector on the PCB for a correct and permanent solution.

I had that problem last year. Found the remains of some insect inside, with goo over several connectors. I used some isopropyl alcohol and q-tips to clean most of it, then an eraser for the corrosion. It was on the front left hand side, at the connections between the green and brown (audio and video) boards. Just be careful of the connecting cables. The audio cable especially has to be disconnected to get the chassis out far enough to get to the front of the chassis out enough to see and clean the boards.

Yeah one of the circuit boards is getting bad, they do wear out overtime and this seems to be the number one breakdown on new TVs. It's a pretty simple repair to fix and to acquire the new boards but you might as well just buy a new TV at that point it's not worth it to fix a 6 year old TV and spend that much on it when you could have other issues with it at this point. I would put it on Craigslist for 25 bucks and just get a new TV I know it's sad to say but it's not like the old TVs were you could fix the parts that were bad and make it worth your time and effort but these new ones the parts that go bad are the expensive ones and you can buy a new one for so cheap you're just better off

Hi and Welcome,

Click on set up>video and audio preferences>unchecked background rendering>click on "used this codec for background rendering>click and choose MPEG2 for best output to disc. Now click on project preferences>click on delete button and then choose delete auxiliary files for all project and then click okay.

Setup again video and audio preferences enable full resolution preview and click okay.

Another is,

click on the completed project in the timeline, go up to "Edit," click on "select all" in the dropdown menu, then RIGHT click anywhere in the now-highlighted project and select "Copy."
Now go back up to "file" and click on "New Project." Your current timeline will close (don't worry. It's saved,) and a new blank timeline will open. Left click anywhere in the new timeline, then right click and select "paste."
After a terrifying period when you think nothing is happening, your entire project will suddenly appear in the new timeline.
Save it with a new name, then try rendering again.

Regards,

Bad convergence IC possible - It's cheap if you do it your self, expensive if you take it to a repair shop. My Toshiba finally came on and stayed on after the IC's burned completely up and smoke poured out the back. Then mine stayed on with a distorted image. A good place for parts -> http://www.electronix.com/catalog/default.php/cPath/6
