Question about Marantz PM7200 2-Channel Amplifier

1 Answer

Marantz Amp I have a PM7000 ( I think). My system will be playing and all of a sudden you will hear a click and the music just goes off. Then in a few minutes it will come back on and this goes on and on. Anybody know what the problem is?

Re: Marantz Amp

Hi There Jan6472,

It sounds like an overheating problem....You are playing for a while then click off it goes, then it cools down and clicks back on....
So please have a good look at your set you have any cloth material doillies or books or magazines blocking the air holes on the top/back/bottom of the amplifier..
If you have please remove then to ensure that the air can circulate around...make sure thta there are small rubber feet on the bottom, to lift the amplifier off the cabinet its sitting on...
Sometimes these feet get removed for some reason and the air cannot move up thru the electronics in side....

If all this is OK then its another cause for overheating, inside the electronics and there is no simple solution other than a repair shop job....

Cheers From YUBEUT

Hello, I have a marantz PM 47 amplifier and reciently the sound dissappeared. At first it had no sound when I turned it on, but then after a while the sound returned, now the sound has gone permanantly. If...

If you take the top off the unit and look inside and if you see one of these IC power amp or something like it then my guess is that has gone! Is it worth reparing? Well if you can read the number on it, you can put it into Google and that will tell you how much one costs! They often have the words STK to start the number sequence.
I'm assuming this is a stereo amp!! The music you can hear anyway is the pre-amp stage, which shows that is working. So this is a power amp fault and since it is taken out both channels then it something that has both channels going in to it! And they do!!!!

My NAD C326BEE amp goes into protection mode at moderate volume

The protection only should come on, when the power amplifier has to give more current than it can deliver. (electronic fuse)
If in the music is a lot of subsonic, sound, so low you can't hear and your speakers can't produce, this could cause the problem. Normal CD players will cut of all frequencies beneath 20 Hz, but it could be your PC is giving everything from 1 Hz and above.
I would certainly try to play some music over a CD player and check if that would solve your problem. Not sure if that works, what you could do to suppress the sub sonic in the computer music.

Hi can I hook up my marantz mm500u amp to my pioneer 305 vsx audio reciever

I presume you just want to slave the Marantz to play whatever the Pioneer is playing.

Run a pair of RCA cables from either the Pioneer Tape Monitor REC or the VCR/Tape 1 Out jacks to the desired Marantz Input jacks. DON'T activate the corresponding switch on the Pioneer.

Only the basic Leftand Right channel programming that the Pioneer plays will be available at the Marantz. You will NOT have centralized volume control at the Pioneer.

Marantz amp will not put out any sound

If it went out with no indications of trouble it's probably a fuse in the output circuit. It might be an out put amp but typically they let you know they're going bad with a little noise.

My old Marantz Amp isn't well...

If there are any, make sure you have the set of speakers configured correctly on the amp. There maybe a set of buttons for example button A is for one set of speakers and button B is for the other, make sure this is all configured correctly
