Question about GE Profile PSW26P Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Partial thawing Things on the top shelf are thawing. The ice maker which is right below it is stillmaking ice. Things on the lower shelfs are fine if they are in the back of the freezer. I also think that it is running non stop. When I lower the temp it does not kick off.

Re: Partial thawing

Make sure that vents aren't obsturcted, you need to have airflow, second make sure the coils either on back side or underneath don't have alot of dirt on the fins. Make sure your door seals are tight all around, take a dollar bill and in different spots around the seal close the door and pull on it. If it comes out to easy then the seal is no good or a door adjustment is in the works. Worse case scenario is the compressor is low on refrigeration or no good. Check the easy things first and let us know thanks.

Will not dispence water

My water dispensor INSIDE the door froze up.
I payed a repair guy $75 to use MY BLOWDRYER to "thaw" the frozen water line INSIDE the freezer door (below the water dispenser).

He said anytime the frozen food extends over the freezer shelf and touches the freezer door for a long enough period of time, the water line inside the door FREEZES!!

PREVENTION: "Keep some airspace between the door and frozen food."

Layer of ice formed on the bottom of freezer and a layer of water with no obvious source has formed on the top shelf on the right side.

That is an easy one. Instead of the defrost liquid draining down the drain hole it is blocked and a slab of ice is forming. You must thaw out the ice box and clear the drain hole. Another thing that could cause this slab of ice could be a leaky ice maker water valve or a faulty ice maker pumping in too much liquid into the ice mold.

Yes, If you will try a couple things. Fill ice maker with water and let freeze. Tell me if it will drop the ice when frozen, Let me know that and your model number. I am doing this to decide which one is the problem. The ice maker or the water control valve. Sea Breeze

Kitchenaid ice maker dripping and freezing down freezer shelfs

Tube sometimes freezes because of minerals in it hold one droplet at a time until buildup freezes solid. Replace tube first. Water valve allowing some droplets through can also cause this. Tube first-less expensive.
