Re: reformatting computer

Usually for this brand and model HP 7917 you have restore cd's. usually 2 cd-roms. if you insert them it will come up with like a wizard. you have to set language, format disk, and type of os. in this case xp. if you don;t have a restore cd you;ll need a xp cd to boot from. at some point it detects there is already a windows present here you can delete the old one.

good luck

Well, if you have anything on it you want to keep, I would burn it to cd or dvd. Then, I am guessing it still has Windows XP on it, go to accessories, system tools, and choose system restore. When you open system restore choose "restore to an earlier date", and just go back to the 1st restore point that is listed. If you want to go further you will need the reformatting discs that would have come with the computer. There could be a way to do it with XP without the discs, I just don't want you to loose some of the preinstalled programs that came with the bundle. If I am reading it right, that is a 2004 system with Windows XP Home installed on it.

My computer keeps showing HP screen and f10,f11,f9 and wont let me do anything

One is of those function buttons will bring up a boot menu. Sounds like your hard drive needs to be reloaded. If you have the disc reload the software and that should go away.

HP Image Zone starts when I bring up my pc. How do I keep that from happening?

if you dont want to keep it i think you can uninstall it by going to control panel and add and remove programs (windows xp and earlier) or programs and features (windows vista and win 7)

Win 98 recovery used instead of win xp sp2. computer won't start, shows win 98 screen and stops

win XP will not use anything from a win98 program. If XP is installed you must either use the recovery discs or better, the original XP disc.

Do a google search for a program called "KON BOOT" burn it to a disc. That program will bypass the log on. Once on you can create a new user with full privledges and then start to remove the other users and what ever you dont want .

You should provide either CD/DVD rom to boot your sytem in bootable disc.
And you should provide windows XP/2000 bootable disk.

You will need:

Bootable windowsxp/2000 to reinstall your system.

Note; reformatting or reinstalling your system all files will be remove. you should back up important files before doing.

dumping of of your hard drive is so expensive, you canstill use that what you need is to install anti viruses but if your operating system is alredy been affected you need to reformat this. in formatting you need to configure your bios by starting the 1st boot device must be the cd rom. your xpcd must be in the cd rom once restarted after the bios configuration in order to start your operation and to reformat your hard disk. just follow the instructions you'll see in your monitor you'll succeed in your reformatting this. if you have some queries feel free to e-mail me and i will guide you.
