when popping popcorn microwave loses all power after popcorn is removed and door is closed. about 20 to 30 min. later power is restored but clock is reset? what sensor or overload protection would cause this? no problems cooking anything else?

When popping popcorn microwave tends to short out, clock resets, and then after a while microwave tends to stop working altogether. We are on the 3rd Magic Chef microwave in less than a year because of this same problem reoccurring.

GuruIt sounds like your magnetron is overheating and its thermostat is resetting.
Try it with a cup of water in one corner and see if that helps.
Otherwise, most manufacturers have a warranty of several years on the magnetron.
