You need to reexamine your display controls ...look for the icon that resembles the hour glass and then attempt adjustment

Hello my computer screen all of a sudden re-sized to pincushion size and i went to the settings menu to try to change it but it is still the same size. how can i get rid of the pincushion size?

The problem is from the control panel, you need to do the settings from there,if does not work then try the monitor's settings, from the monitor.

My monitor has a hourglass screen and not a full screen please help

Look in your monitors menu screen. You will see a setting to change that. On mine it is labeled "Pincushion", it bends the middle of the screens image to compensate for the curve of the glass

THE PICTURE HOUR GLASSES IN SHAPE

Your symptom sounds like a damaged component in the pincushion circuit.

If your colors line up in the middle of the set and at the top but the picture is concave then you may have a faulty component in the pincushion circuit. When this circuit fails the picture will have an hourglass shape to it with black in the middle on the sides, or you will see square objects as hourglass shapes.

I would recommend that you have a local service center diagnose the set for you and give you an estimate of the repair.
I have seen this type of repair run from $250.00 - $350.00.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

My screen doesent fit and it is hourglass shaped it is driving me nuts

The problem is called "pincushion distortion" and happens because of the way CRT monitors work. There is circuitry in the monitor to correct the display, but it's not working in your monitor. Often this is because of bad solder connections to transistors in the circuit (they get pretty hot sometimes and can cause the connections to degrade). It can also be due to failure of those parts.

If you are comfortable working with electronic soldering and want to try your own repair, open the monitor and examine the board for bad connections. Repair any that are grainy or obviously cracked. Typically the parts that need resoldering are mounted on metal heatsinks so you have a place to start looking.

I don't recommend paying a shop to repair this. New 17-inch LCD monitors are so inexpensive today that it's better just to replace the CRT one.

Pincushion on emachines monitor

Something within the monitor or on the Video card. An Electronic Tech may be able to figure it out but it would be costly and likely not worth it. If you could use another monitor , just long enough to see if it is the video or monitor, that would be helpful, in so far as as Video cards usually are inexpensive to replace compaired to a whole monitor.    I took one in to be loked at and they had a $50 fee just to look at it.Needless to say I threw it away and gort another.

Have you ever had this problem?

Sorry Ginko, but a convergence problem would have the curves down from the top and up from the bottom. The hourglass shape is a pincushion problem. This can be as simple as a bad capacitor in the pincushion circuit.

Could you please confirm the model number so I can look up the probable part?

Thanks,
Dan

Generally, pincushion may be driven by a chip or IC,but pin out is normally a durable xistor. Servicer adjustments are minor for pin correction.Go to pin out circuit & measure voltages.Get back to me on your findings.
