No connection

remove the HDD out of the caddy and plug into the inside of your PC then right click my computer and go to manage, in the left hand pane click disk management, now in the middle pane should be all your disks check if the HDD you plugged in is being recognised.

now go to my computer and click on the new disk and check that everything Is their, if its not then the HDD is broke but if it is then the caddy is.

if you cant see the disk in my computer and you can in mange try reformatting, this may bring the drive back to life but you will loose your data

Is my hard drive broken? Cant get it recognised on other PCs

I'm having a similar problem with the same Akasa integral enclosure, so far I have tried 3 different hard disks and not one of them will work properly and on two different computers.. , all of the hard disks I've tried are Samsung .. but I'm sure that makes no difference. I plan to send back the enclosure to where I bought it from and get a different one from a different manufacturer.

I want to use a 80gb hdd out a xbox ,for my comp

The xbox uses a different filesystem than a PC. If you just want to add the hdd to your pc, you will need to format the hard drive so that it uses a filesystem the pc can recognize. For a windows XP/Vista system, this gemerally means NTFS filesystem. Keep in mind that this will destroy all existing data on that hard drive such as games and saves, so be sure that's what you want to do. You should be able to format the hdd from Administrative tools -> Computer management -> disk management and search for disk 1 or something similar. Take care not to format the disk holding your C: partition.

Your OS is not booting. There may be few reasons.
1) Your hard disk is damaged and your BIOS does not recognise your HDD. Goto BIOS setup and see whether your HDD is shown. If it does not appear there, you may have to replace the Hard Disk.
2) Your HDD is recognised by the BIOS but Master Boot Record (MBR) is missing or damaged. Try booting from an XP CD. See whether Windows Setup detects your HDD. If the setup says there is an existing installation, try repairing it. After repairing, reboot and see whether you can use the computer. Otherwise make a new installation.

My internal hard drive is recognised as removable???

Your problem is Vista. It is the pits and by far the worst modern OS, second only to Windows Me. (Millenium Edition).

You need to start at the beginning. Go into DOS, use FDISK to Format the Drive, Go to BIOS and Assign it as the main disk. Disconnect any other HDs if you have them. Reinstall Windows 7 Pro if you can find a copy.

However, did you try this?

HDD is not dedected.

the first thing that pops up in my mind is a power problem. check if the hard disk starts making a 'spinning' noise when you plug in the power chord and turn the disk on. when you hear a ticking noise instead, it means the disk is broken. be sure it only makes the spinning noise. if it does, connect the usb-cable between the disk and the computer. if the disk is not recognised, replace the cable. if still not ok, post what you did as a comment, and please be as accurate as possible, because this problem may have several causes.
