Machine won't turn on - no power!

My machine appears to have an electrical problem, but I'm not familiar with troubleshooting those types of problems. Could be a fuse or power supply? I started to attempt to remove panels in order to look at the electrical components, but it's not as straightforward as I had hoped (of course!). There is only one service center in Colo. and it's 2 hours away. Can anyone give me:

  • help with disassembly
  • suggestions for parts that may be causing the problem
  • info about how to find a good service center

I had the same problem.  I replaced the Zener Diode, and all is well again.  Thank you very much.

Re: Machine won't turn on - no power!

With the machine facing you, the circuit board is mounted on the left panel. Simply unscrew the grey plastic and you will see it inside a clear case.
The two grey conical inserts are recessed into the machine (next to where water drips out into the coffee), one on each side. Just use a long philip head screwdriver to unscrew them until they drop down.
They hold the top lid in place. Now push the top lid towards you,
pretty easy. Also take out the water tank in the back (the one swing out) to make room to access the circuit board. With the machine back facing you, open the water tank, use your finger to pull the plastic tap. One side of the tank will just drop, and just jiggle the tank out.

Remove the circuit board case, pull out all the wires with a piler,
they are sort of tight, but you can pull them out carefully. Label them so you won't mix them up.

With the circuit board out, I probed around with a multimeter. I found ZD6, a zener diode, part # 1N4749A didn't give me a 0.46V reading. (there is another zener diode with the same part # that gives 0.46V (ZD1). ZD6 is next to two blue electrolytic capacitors. Unsolder ZD6 from underneath and replace it.
It is like 5 cents, definitely not freaking $40.

If the unit fails to turn on, it seems the circuit board has failed. These are sensitive to power surges, or other electrical disturbances. You can have a circuit board replaced, but many times over; the cost is as much or more than a replacement.

There do not appear to be any "User Serviceable" electrical parts for this machine.

There is, however, a troubleshooting guide available in the User Manual.

Here is the User Manual:

Good luck, that looks like a very nice machine.

The machine won't turn on at all. Tried t in several functioning outlets and it won't power up. Only 6 months old. Keurig B60

The problem is often that the machine develops a leak in the hose that is rightover the transformer...the water drips onto the transformer and kills that...then you have no power to run the machine.

Here is a tip that I wrote about this problem...

The pump switch is either burned out, shorted out, or there is a CPU problem. You will need somebody local to do basic electrical troubleshooting on this machine.

Your heating element has probably burned out. You will need to find somebody who is familiar with an electrical meter, take the top of the machine off and check voltage between the two electrodes going into the boiler. If there is voltage but the boiler is cold, your element is burned out. We can fix it.

Grindmaster pic 2 Hot drink machine is blowing fuse when power turned on. All electrical components appear to be fine.

I have had the same problem with this machine, luckily I had another unit that I could swap out parts for troubleshooting. In my case, one of the dump valves coming off the tank had failed, this ended up causing the control board to fail as well. The dump valve wasn't too expensive, around 70$ as I recall, but the control board was over 300$. Pricey, but considering the machine itself retails for over 1900$, cheaper than a new one. Hope it works out.
