If you have a 2006 or later model, you must set up Blue Ray DVD to Auto Mode on their output setting.

VGA and DVI are not compactable. Your TV has no provision to connect it to computer.

DVI-HDTV Input (Input 1)

Use this DVI-HDTV Input for your external devices with DVI-HDTV output such as a Set-Top-Box, high-band DTV decoders, DVD
players and D-VHS with Digital Content Protection

1. Only DTV format such as 1080i, 720p, 480i and 480p are available for DVI-HDTV input.

2. The DVI-HDTV input is NOT compatible when used with a DVD player from a personal computer.

3. When connecting a Set-Top-Box with a copy-protect digital out terminal, a high definition picture can be displayed
on the screen in its digital form

Philips 60

There will be a big difference in video quality between HDMI and S-Video. If you happen to have a DVD player that uses HDMI you can upconvert your movies to 1080i if your DVD player allows it. The only problem that you might run into is your audio. HDMI has audio built into the cable and DVI does not, with the HDMI to DVI cable you are going to have to find an alternate source for your audio to travel through. If you are looking for video quality get the HDMI to DVI cable.

DVI/HDMI Cable lost my pic and sound

Try disconnecting the hdmI cable and the dvr box.
Connect the cable directly to the cable input.
Sometimes the dvr boxes will cause this problem
after you connect the hdmi cable.

DVI-D Link

HDMI and DMI have the same pin placing... so I tried placing a DVD upconverting player through this and it will only show in 480. will not go to 720 or 1080 i or p. Picture quality is almost the same.

My sugustion is stay with the component cables.

No sound

A DVI cable does not have an audio connection, along with the DVI you still have to run an audio line from the device (DVD player, cable box, satellite receiver) to the TV. HDMI contains both audio and video.

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.
