Poulan Weed Eater PPB250E won't accelerate

It starts and idles fine, but won't continue running when I pull the trigger to accelerate it to weed eating speed. you can pull the trigger and it revs, but hold it, and it dies. yesterday I had to rev the trigger to cut anything, and had to restart a million times. I was determined, but annoyed. i can fix it, i know it. HELP

The above was previously reported and it also describes my problem accurately. The solution reported was to ajust the carborator i.e. air mixture and idle. I cannot find an air mixture screw and the owners manual does not identify one. Help please.

Definatley running out of fuel. this sounds dumb-just check it. the fuel line from the tank to carb is made of tygon, it gets hard and cracks allowing air to enter fuel line and lean out the unit, sometimes till it quits. also drain the fuel from the tank, look in tank, youll see a hose with a weighted fuel filter in the end of it, get a peice of wire, carfully pull it out and chack for cracks or a broken off 'clunk' fuel filter. then which is hard, the fuel pump-a little built in vacume diaphram in the carb that re-verberates with engine vacume and pumps fuel at high demand times. there will be a metal cover on the carb with a hole in the middle, carfully remove the screws ans the diaphram will be part of the gasket so dont rip it or youll need a carb rebuild kit. look for rips or tears or a broken return spring. also make sure the carb hasnt loosened up from the engine, this will cause a vacume leak and then the pump wont keep up. check the lines first that what you will probably find. good luck!

Starting procedure

Terry: According to eHow.com:

"
  • Put on a pair of safety glasses. Remove the fuel cap from the Weed Eater and set it aside. Fill the fuel tank with unleaded gasoline that has been mixed with quality 2-stroke oil in a 40:1 ratio. Replace the fuel cap.
  • Move the Weed Eater to a safe place and lay it flat on the ground. Depress the fuel bulb located beneath the carburetor approximately six times to prime the engine. Press it slowly so that fuel has adequate time to traverse the fuel line.
  • Slide the handlebar-mounted engine "On/Stop" switch to the "On" position. Slide the choke lever beneath the fuel tank to the "Full" position.
  • Depress the "Throttle Lock" lever located beside the engine "On/Stop" switch. Keeping the lever depressed, squeeze the throttle trigger. Release the throttle lock. This sequence holds the trigger in the depressed position, which aids in starting the Weed Eater.
  • Roll the Weed Eater so that it is resting on the engine and the trimmer head shield only. This will allow the spinning trimmer head to avoid contact with the ground. Brace the Weed Eater by holding it to the ground with one hand. Using your other hand, pull the starter rope quickly until the engine begins to run. Do not pull the rope more than a dozen times. If it fails to start by then, squeeze the throttle trigger and continue to pull until the engine starts.
  • Allow the Weed Eater to warm up for about 15 seconds, then slide the choke lever to the "Off" position. Let the trimmer run for another minute without touching the throttle lever. After the Weed Eater has warmed up, squeeze the throttle trigger once to disengage the throttle lock. The trimmer is now operational.

Weed eater starts fine runs a few minutes and then dies when you try to press the trigger

That is a great solution mrfixit-jerr, just wanted to add that if you need any of those parts, out of all the places online or locally Ive always used ereplacementparts.com for tool parts on my equipment. I recently had to get a small carburetor and the replacement worked great!
