Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
If the oven is not heating food and the turntable is not rotating, it's a serious problem such a as a low voltage power supply, and up to replacing the magnetron (considering getting a gently used replacement oven on Craig's List or elsewhere).
If the oven has a turntable and is not rotating, that might be a separate (and easy-to-fix) problem by itself. I replaced mine, and it took 10 minutes.
If the turntable doesn't rotate, either the small ac motor has failed, or the coupling from the motor has come loose. Unplug the main power to the oven. Remove the 5 or 6 screws underneath the oven to remove the access panel to see the small ac motor. There will be an electrical plug with two wires connected to the small motor---unplug it. Take out the 2 screws that hold the motor in place, then inspect if anything seems to have come loose. If everything was mechanically o.k., then the motor is bad.
It's a fairly universal part number, a low voltage ac motor. Make sure that the voltage rating is the same when looking for a replacement. You could check on-line with a search-engine or Sears.
Good luck, hope this helps.

I have same microwave.
never had any problem till a recall was done about a month ago, then about a week later it started doing what yours is doing.
I called ge,and they were going to send a tech back out to check it.
Well, times being what they are my wife said she could not do without a microwave
and she was going to go by one.
I am mechanically inclined,electrically also,so i got a torx driver out,and took off the
front panel he replaced, after I had turned the power off of course,.
There are two switches to the left when you take off the fnt panel.
They are for the door, for some reason one of them had flipped the wrong way
and was not being pushed when the door closed.
you may have a bad switch, but it will be cheaper to repair than a new one.
On mine i flipped the switch and no more problems

It's probably the turntable motor, but also check the coupler / turntable support too.
