Question about Kenmore 63942 Dryer

Dryer is on and tumbling, but not heating up

I suspect that my heating element may be out but I can't figure out where it is in the back of the dryer. I cleaned the lint out of the vent hose to make sure its not clogged and I flipped the circuit breakers in my panel to make sure the wasn't the problem. I opened up the back of the dryer, but all I see are a few wires. I don't have any sort of ohm meter or anything like that to test for current. not heating but turning

First and foremost check your breakers. There will be 2, 30 amp breakers. Even if they don't look tripped reset them anyway. Then try the dryer if that's not the problem then you either have a thermostat problem or heating element and will need to check with an ohm meter.

My white knight tumble dryer does not heat up,tried pressing the reset button but still does not heat up

you have a heating element burnt out. You will need to remove the back of the dryer and in the bottom of the dryer casing you will see the element Looks like a toaster element. Take model and serial # to an appliance parts house for replacement. An appliance tech shouldn't charge you that much to repair if you dont want to do it yourself.

Good luck hope this helped you some

The tumble dryer is working but not heating??? cleaned all filters and water tank. any ideas???

A tumble dryer that isn't heating up at all needs checking with a continuity test meter. The most common cause is a heating element failure, or t.o.c's going open circuit. Some tumble dryers have heating elements that are easily accessible by removing the back panel, and can be tested for continuity or checked for obvious breakage. Others though have their heating elements inside, which aren't accessible without stripping the dryer down. Tumble dryer heating elements are always protected by thermal fuses which are usually simple devices with 2 wires connected. They can be tested for continuity with a test meter. In your case it is better that y ou call in an engineer to test it. Also overloading and blocked filters can cause the thermostat to cut out and they can also go with simple wear and tear. Check your service manual for spare parts etc

Most driers have a overload cut-out switch to protect the element from overheating
these are usually on the right hand side of the ( Bump / hump panel at the back ) should be a plastic thpe button that re-sets the overload
- got to be worth a try
