My RCA Scenium also has the same problem. The left corner began at first with just a very small smudge of black. It has now expanded like 12 inches out from the corner. I have been told that there is an assembly which has gone bad within the mirrors, and that it has to be sent back to the manufacturer to be retooled. I've been waiting for the lamp to burn out, and when that occurs, I'll have it all repaired (expensive $$$)...

I have the same problem. Somebody told me it might be the light engine but i noticed the bulb lens and color wheel?? have cracks. Anyone discovered the real cause of this problem?

I have the exact same problem. Started as a small smudge in the upper left-hand corner and grew to about 12" diagonal. I currently have the TV apart to try and find the issue. I believe the cause is 4 small mirrors shaped like a trapezoid just after the color wheel. It appears that tape was used hold these together for assembly and the heat from the lamp has discolored the mirrors and cause a small bubble of tape, which becomes huge as it travels all those mirrors. I am not sure I can get those mirrors back together...anyone know where I could buy the replacement part?

I have a large shadow which appaers over my picture of my RCA Scenium HD61THW263. I has a brand new lamp, so lamp is not the problem. Any idea how to fix this? It is in the shape of a V and goes half way down the center of the TV, no electronics nearby.

No, don't wait. Make sure you get RCA to cover this under warranty. Don't wait for everyone with this model to have the same problem and jam up RCA with the customer service nightmare that is rampant in this industry.

If you know what you're doing - why not. Most probably something has got loose inside the lens and needs to be fixed.

There is a shadow in the upper left corner of the screen

someone is going to have to look inside by either removing the rear upper part of the set or removing the entire front screen---neither is easy to do. But considering your trouble I would not be surprised if the mirror is cracked---the entire front screens would have to be removed to replace the mirror--special mirror and special handling--I have seen several break when someone is not careful putting in.

Shadow top to bottom of screen on left side about 2" wide...

This can be the sync wheel assy, failure in the drive circuit for the display chip, or an illumination fault. You will have to give the set out for service.

Shadow down left hand side of screen

Is it an LCD or DLP? The Model below suggests it is an DLP. Sounds as if you have the dreaded light tunnel collapse common to all LG DLP TV's. Inside the light engine there is a square tube made up of four mirrors. These mirrors deform and crack with the heat of the lamp. They fall down over the light aperture and cause a shadow of varying degrees. It is fixable now at a realistic price ( used to have to replace engine) as LG have made the parts available. It would take a competent tech around three hours to complete or if you are technically minded you could do it yourself. I hope this helps. Good Luck.
