AT&T just gave me a new Motorola DSL box and I can't get my router to even find the internet which is active. I can only get the router install portion to go just to where it can't find the internet...what do I do?

I recommend that you hook your computer directly to the dsl modem with a J45 cable to install or setup the new dsl modem to eliminate the many different ways that a router may add to your installation. After the setup is complete, then attach the cable to your router for it to setup your home network. Remember to un-plug your router for thirty seconds before hooking the dsl modem to it to allow proper IP addressing to be completed on your router.

First of all using the Router Install Portion try to do a 'factory reset' or a 'reset to default'  - wait for a reboot to see if any change occur.

Next try to use the cable between your Moto Box and your LinkSys Box in a different port on the link sys. It may sound silly, but it can work very well sometimes.

DSL line at new office connects directly to two different laptops just fine (one Windows, one Mac). But connecting DSL line to WR850GP shows no data. Wirelessly or by cable. Doesn't make sense if WR850GP...

When you have DSL, all routers have to be configured for it. That means accessing the setup page and typing in your username and password that your ISP (Internet Provider) gave you. Have you done this?
Here is the manual:

Just got a new router (motorola) and airport will

Check your connections:

DSL-modem to telephone-jack (or cable-modem to cable-jack).

Ethernet cable from DSL-modem (or from cable-modem) to WAN port on your router.

Ethernet cable from LAN port on router to WAN port on your Airport.

Cut the power to the Airport, and then plug it back in, so that it restarts.

I need to connect my router to a Motorola AT&

The connection should be, from the modem connect the ethernet cord to the INTERNET/WAN port of the router. And your PC to port 1 of the router as well. You can then run the setup CD That came with your router.

I can't get on the internet

>> do i have to call my internet service provider to activate my modem?

Yes.

Each modem has a unique "address", and your I.S.P. uses that address to authorize each DSL-modem that tries to connect to their network.

Or, if the two of you live in the same house/apartment, you should just buy a "router". Then, both computers can connect to the router, and the router connects to the DSL modem, and both of you can "share" the monthly fee for the _one_ Internet connection.

Can I use my router just as a Wireless router with a DSL .

i doubt it will work. most times the cable companies give you a modem/router all in one box. the problem is there in no inbound connection to recieve an internet signal other than the cable cord connection. with the dsl modem you will need a seperate router. they cost around $40-50 on avg

Please help

To setup your router
first check..
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your Internet Service Provider. If it can go online,
to setup connection..
Step 1:
Connect the Broadband modem to the router’s WAN or Internet port.
Step 2:
Connect the computer to any available numbered port (1, 2, 3 or 4).
NOTE: In this example, we’ll connect the computer to port number 3.
Step 3:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 4:
check if you are able to go online wired..
if not your router has to be configured first,
config your router by running the setup cd and that would fix your problem..
let me no know in case if you have any problems ...
