My player when loading dvd loads for couple of secs and cuts off

when i put in a dvd it loads for a couple of secs like about 20 and says no disc?Please Help.

Does the disc spin?
If not you have my problem spindle motor suspected faulty if the disc spins then its not being read, faulty lazer assy Try cleaning the lazer using dry brush disc philips do a good one and also clean the disc you are trying to play if it still doesnt work its a fault
