Question about Toshiba Satellite A60 Notebook
I have a Toshiba Satellite A60 laptop and the other night I was attempting to do something on battery power and it shut down (went into powersave mode) before I was done. Three days later, I attempted to start it up by using a wall outlet and it powered up and clicked off after about 2 seconds. No BIOS showed, the screen stayed black. I pulled the battery and tried using only AC and it did the same thing. I left it overnight to see if the battery would charge and it did (so I don't think it's the power supply), then tried it and the problem persisted. It was working fine before (with the exception of not coming out of standby - you had to shut down and restart if it went into standby). Otherwise, I have had no major problems. Additionally, it is about 3 - 4 years old. I could really use some help as I am not ready to pay out for a new one. Thanks.
Not yet. When I find the time I plan to try and switch out the power supply/jack in the back of the machine. I am hoping it is just a matter of a faulty connection. Thanks for asking.

Mark F K, truong808, does the cooling fan(s) blow or come on? If not, the system will sense tha ti is overheating and will shut down to prevent further damage. Also, a thermal sensor may be failing on the Mobo and thus keep the fan from initiating. The cheapest fix is to replace the fan. Worst case scenario is another Mobo may be the fix.
