Problems with Sansui SV-4700LCD picture quality

I have just replaced my JVC plasma (42 inch) with the Sansui. It is connected to my Sony DVD player through AV1. Picture with the JVC was perfect but with the Sansui it is sometimes problematic. With movement the picture becomes 'blocky' - like a picture that has been blown up too large. Also when watching sports, like tennis, when the whole court is in view the players are impossible to identify - again the blocky effect. A golf ball flying through the air shudders. Same problem whether watching TV or a DVD.

I assume you are saying that the DVD player only has RCA jacks. It would be good to know if the DVD player has Component output as that is the preferred output. You will know this if the RCA jacks on the DVD are color coded green, blue and red.... You would by a set of component cables, hook to DVD matching colors and then find the same color code on input of the TV. You must also run the red and white cable from the DVD output to the TV input for audio. The input on the TV would be labled component in or input and a #. Simply select the input, or source button on remote to select the input that matches your choice and all should function. If there is no component on the DVD output and only a composit hook up (color code by yellow, red, white) again just match that to the corresponding input on the TV.

I set up my 42 inch Insignia plasma, turned it on for the first time (connected to a DVD player in AV mode) and can only get a black and white picture, no matter what I connect as an external source.

Make sure your dvd player is not in progressive scan mode if your using a/v mode. The best way is RGB component input, provided you have the cables.

You don't have any magnet anywhere near the TV do you ?
If not it sounds like something magnetic is interferring with the picture.

If not get the warranty out :D
