Trying to restore my system

I rang acer support today with a question about my laptop acer aspire 5100, it kept coming up with a message that said system malfunction due to edata security, they told me to reboot the system by restarting and pressing f10, i did all this and it started to reboot then came up with a message saying Restore Failed - reason 0xd000000d, click ok to restart the computer, i have done this and now i have nothing on my screen and cant access the computer at all, please help me, what can i do, i need my computer!!!

I have the same problem and f8 doesn´t do anything..
nothing helps..

Tried to install win xp pro, but it wont install..

Black screen..

Does anyone know solution..``?

That's horrible. Don't use the OS disk and don't restore your computer. restart using F8 as soon as you let go of the power button and select safe mode. Then uninstall edata security, restart.

Same problem Vista + edatasecurity not compatible,so i uninstalled edata security,problem solved.

I want to restore my acer aspire 5741 to factory settings but when i go to restore it, a message comes up saying hard drive configuration is not set to the factory default. reboot aborted.

Before performing a restore operation, please check the BIOS settings. To activate the BIOS utility, press F2 during post.

To start the recovery process:

1. Restart the system.
2. While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to enter the recovery process.
3. Refer to onsreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Ever time i start up my acer aspire 5100 its coming up an invalid arument encountered how do i get rid of it plz have i unistalled a program or something to do with acer

try to run system restore first remember the last date that your acer aspire 5100 works properly and if the same problem coming reinstall your operating system this 100% will correct solve your problem.

Acer Aspire 5100 won't system restore

If you created your system restore CDs when you purchased the system, insert your first CD into the CD drive and boot your computer. This will restore your computer to factory settings. ALL DATA WILL BE LOST.

Acer notebook usb not recognized

Sounds like a hardware issue. I would guess that there is a bad connection between the usb's and the motherboard. If you are comfortable dismanteling the laptop and re-soldering the usb's than give that a try, but I would recomend you give it to a pro.

Aspire 5100 problem

You can disable this msg through msconfig or you can restore the os through system tools, if msg is again comming then try to edit the regestry & delete the entry(you can try all this).

Restoring acer aspire to its factory settings

From Acer customer support:

1 Ensure all Data is backed up, all data will be deleted.
2 Restart machine
3 When your unit switches back on hold down alt & tap f10 repeatedly...(on Acer icon)
4 Please wait a moment until prompted, -How would you like to restore?-
5 Please select –Restore system to factory default-
6 Enter your defined password or enter six zeros ‘000000’
7 Click ok
8 Please wait until process completed, this will take 45min – 1hour

My Acer aspire 5100

If you are able, when the pc is booting up keep pressing F8, this will take you to safe mode and not allow the graphics driver to run. When in the safe mode options, select either Last known good configuration or start windows in safe mode. Last known good configuration should find the last good system settings, when it reboots. Start windows in safe mode allows you to go into windows using the administartor account, and then you should select system restore and restore back to the day before or just before you updated the graphics driver.
