Brand new Skil bandsaw 3385 will not work

This is one of most common problems with Skil saws. Make sure that you set the correct tension and track the blade properly. It could also be problem on the blade specially on the weld. I suggest you visit bandsawblog.com for helpful band saw techniques and sawblade.com . I get my blades from them.

I've been purchasing replacement parts on www.bandsawparts.com . But they don't have for Skil bandsaw. Have you tried checking on toolpartsdirect? Do you happen to know the correct model number of the part?

there is a direct short somewhere, recheck the plug end for correct wiring and if OK then it is in the cord or the motor itself, I would think the cord or plug first.

This Band Saw is designed to use a 1700 RPM motor. It
is wired for operation on 110-120 volts, 60 Hz.

62 inch bandsaw blades are at haebor freight stores

the pressure you are pushing could be too hard or a dull blade. what is the HP of it? I use one for cutting metal bar up to 6 inch and wood. the HP of mine is 15 horsepower and wood will cut quick when solid steel is very slow. of course mine is industrial size with a 3 foot depth

The motor is bad. It is drawing too many amps.

All I could find out is that your skil bandsaw is made by the Bosch Bench tool co in Mount Prospect, Il. The owners manual from skil shows the part you need as #6 lower blade guide, and Lowes does handle this line of Skil. I would suggest contacying Lowes or the store you bought this from and getting the consumer help phone number from them. They have to have this part available as I am seeing a lot of these units refurbished, so someone has the parts to them. Hope this helps and good luck. Marvin

Hello. It could be the switch or it could be the motor itself being burned out. Hopefully it is the switch. try hotwiring the switch to see if the saw operates then u will know.
