Re: anti theft code

This is a fairly common issue with modern car radios since anti-theft has been added as a security feature. Your options are rather limited if you lost the manual. A few are:
1. Contact the original dealer of the vehicle. You need to present proof of purchase/ownership and VIN number. If the dealer is sympathetic, he will check on a database and get the numbers for you; or
2. With fingers crossed, check the spare tire area. See if you can locate the sticker with the VIN number. In most instances below it would be a series of 4 numbers. Try using those numbers as your code.

Pls be reminded that after 2 wrong tries, you need about an hour or more before you can try again.

Hope that this be of some help. Pls post back how things worked out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Stereo stopped working will not turn back on

Many car stereos use an anti-theft pass-code scheme. If the stereo is removed from the vehicle, lock-off is triggered by the loss of battery power to the stereo, and the only way to get it to turn on is to enter the pass-code on the front panel buttons. If you had to disconnect the battery, or it went completely dead on you, that's your problem. Check the manual for your stereo for details.

Note: some stereos requiring entering the pass-code before disconnecting the battery - for those who might have such systems, save yourself some grief and check your user's manual ASAP so you are prepared.

Another possibility is a shorted speaker amplifier has blown the radio fuse. Check the speaker wiring for damaged insulation before you install the repaired or replaced stereo. A competent electronic technician can generally check the amplifier modules or transistors for shorts and replace them as needed. Be sure to ask which speaker output is bad so you know which one needs a wiring check.

The screen says protect and it wont come off the screen or play radio or cds what do i do?

This radio is equipped with an anti-theft device, if the battery power is disconnected from the radio for more than a few minutes, it goes into lockdown or "protect" mode. The only way to get the code is to call the manufacturer with the product number and serial number, generally they will verify your identity and then provide you with the unlock code.

No eject

Ensure that the stereo is powered, check cable and connection.
Disconnect battery for one minute and try again.
Before disconnecting the battery ensure that you have anti theft code if required.
If that does not work, disconnect battery again, and try repeatedly pressing the eject on changer while someone else connect power back.

If that does not work the unit must be taken apart to remove the disk. Disassembly involves removing external cover, and usually it is not too complex.

I changed the fuse for the radio in my 2007 trailblazer and now all it will do is show the clock and then shut down? Any ideas what is wrong?

The radio goes into anti theft lockout mode when ever power is disconnected to it, fuse, battery change out all trigger radio anti-theft lock out mode, this unlock code was given to the original owner for the truck with the owners new car package which included the all the paper work such as warranty pamphlet, owners manual and so on, it was on a small card, if u don't have this u either must have the dealer look the number up for u or unlock the radio in the shop, the dealer charges around $60.00 for this service, there is a site that is very cheap to use to get the radio unlocked, here is the link to that site, they charge $6.99

Stereo Anti-theft code?

Go to the Vehicle MFG Dealership. They are the only one's that can retrieve your code. Generally they will charge 20-25 to do this. Hope this helps

With the newer cars most radios have a theft deterrent device built into the radio, and if they steal your system it will not work in another jeep/car the dealer knows the unlock code, some charge to unlock the radio some don't.
That's why when doing electrical work on a car/truck etc. You have to have 12V DC power to the battery terminals all the time or you will loose the code and then only the dealer can help you unlock the radio.

If it is a stock standard radio in your vehicle. Contact the car company with your VIN # and they can supply.

If after market, Contact supplier of stereo or the maker of the stereo with the serial number on the head unit
