Car will not turn over and dashlights flicker. Haven't tested the battery, but shows a green light. Car locks will not work either.
Is it the alternator? I don't think a dead battery would make the lights flicker???
Check the battery cables and make sure they are clean and are connected tightly to the battery; check the ground and make sure it has a good connection and is tight (it will be the black cable and is connected to your chassis by a bolt. Have your battery checked even though it is showing a green light; nothing is fail proof. Check your fuses and relays. If you can jump start it take it and have the starting and ignition system checked at a shop or auto parts store. A bad alternator will drain your battery.
Disconnecting the battery while the car is running is not recommended; newer model cars have a lot of electronics that could be negatively affected. If you can jump it and get it started take it to a local auto parts store (leave it running)(Auto Zone and Advance Auto are two examples), and have them test your charging system while the car is running. You may have a parasitic drain on your battery that is discharging it even while the car is off but have your alternator and battery checked first.

Thanks for the response.
I cleaned the battery posts and everything is tight.
I jumped it and then disconnected the battery cable, thinking that if it died, the alternator was bad. Is that a correct assumption? It did not die and stayed running.
There are no dummy lights lit alarming me to any specific problem. The stero doesn't play, but just says "Code", nothing else.
Inside lights are dim......
I will check the fuse situation too.
Thanks for the advise and let me know if you think of anything else...
Again, I appreciate your feed back.
