Question about Creative Labs Zen V MP3 Player

1 Answer

My creative zen V Plus 2GB is frozen

My mp3 is not working well. I tried to plug in my mp3 to my laptop connector but when I click Sync Manager it says "no player connected" and my computer will tell me that USB is not recognized. I also tried reseting it with a pin while it is plug in my laptop and it will turn on but the first thing that comes out f my screen is "rebuilding libary" and then my menu comes out and completely frozen. I can't even navigate through all the controls of my mp3 (such as play, pause, on/off etc.) I need advice please. Thank You. although the player works, the screen is dark. it doesn't show anything at all. i've tried resetting but it didn't help.

i just spent about an hour putting music on my Zen V Plus 2gb and hit "safely remove device from computer". i removed it from the USB and it was fine, but i didnt want to listen to it quite yet so i tried to turn it off. its been stuck on "shutting down" for like 20 minutes now. ive tried holding down the power switch and moving the joystick around but nothing seems to work. how can i fix this?

i just spent about an hour putting new music on my Zen V Plus 2 GB and
when i was finished i hit "safely remove device from computer" and took
it off the USB. it worked fine and i looked through my library to make
sure the transfer worked, but i wasnt quite ready to listen to it just
yet. so i held the power switch down to turn it off like normal but it
got stuck on the "shutting down" screen. ive tried holding down the
power switch again and holding the joystick in different directions but
nothing works. its been stuck like this for over 20 minutes now. how
can i go about fixing this?

My zen says docked on the screen and it's not docked. It doesn't turn off, none of the keys work. It's frozen.

Have you tried a different usb port?
do you have media player 11 installed?
can you try another computer?

you should not have had to install anything for the Zen to work on Vista. If you have installed any Creative software, remove it. Reboot, plug your player in, open Device Manager, and remove the device that shows up representing your player (completely uninstall it). Reboot again, and plug in your player. It should be recognized now.

If that still doesn't work, then boot your player into Recovery Mode, and perform both a Disk Cleanup and a Reformat. Reboot the player and try plugging it in again.
if it still doesn't try another computer and upload the latest firmware to it and then try it on your pc after firmware is loaded

try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

My creative zen v plus is not detected by my pc when connected its screen has reddish lines neither it is shutting down nor it is working

Using the instructions below try Cleanup first, if that doesn't work... (if you have a backup of all your music on your computer), try the format option

This is from Creative's website:
Zen V Plus and Zen V
  1. Detach your player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
If the player stops responding, you can reset the player. To reset the player, gently
insert a thin object into the Reset hole located below the power switch.
2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on your player.
3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.

It will display the following options:
Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.

first thing to do is try another computer, if you get one that works update the firmware and you should be able to get your laptop to see it after that.
