The receiver menus lock up, the unit only receives even transponders and so far I have not been able to get a picture even when I connect it to my home dish. I spent hours on the phone with DirecTv and they don't fix them and they can't tell me who does. I checked all over LA and no one here fixes them. Now what do I do with this thing as it is way out of warranty?

    There is no "Manufacturers web site" and no way for me to update anything. I have tried resetting, unpowering and played with the menus to no avail.

    When I could get into the menu, i ran the test and it came back fine except for the fact that the phone line test failed because I didn't have it plugged in.

    I just this morning got off the phone with some office girl from the "Presidents" office at DTV who gave me the name of a company in Memphis. She didn't or couldn't say whether or not they fix the units. I have been trying to get this new company to answer their phone without any luck. Go figure. I would still like to hear from someone who has experienced the same issues and how they gt it resolved beside threats which she didn't seem too concerned about.

    You can't buy a protection plan on a unit with a known problem.

The receiver may have to have the firmware updated. Also try repositioning dish. You will have to have the software and cables to update it yourself. Otherwise it will have to be tested for faulty capacitors and resistors if you can access the inside.

Hi Hudson51! You spent already hours with DirectTv Tech Support and nothing was fix. I wont recommend for any additional troubleshooting because you already did it. I suggest you call on DirectTv and apply for a protection plan, this is an extended warranty plan. one of the basic feature of the protection plan is if the receiver fails or any sat equipment in your house, they will replace it with out any cost.

What I have heard of being done is to tell them again the problem and then tell them you want a new receiver and dish. If they try to charge you for it tell them you can get four receivers free for signing up with Dish Network. My daughter actually did this and DTV sent her four receivers free. If they don't just swap to the Dish.

Hi there,

Well first of all you try to remove all the power/battery input from your GPS for more then 10 minutes. after that check it again. then try to restore it's factory settings (format). if further you have the same problem then you try to upgrade it's firmware from Internet by going to the manufacturing website.

once you set the audio program for an input, it should stay set even if you power the unit down. As far as locking that program so that it cannot be changed - no there isn't a way to do that.

1. Activate the TeleType GPS program

2. Select Tools>GPS Status>Status.

3. Look closely at the GPS output that is displayed in the View Status menu. Data should be flowing even when the GPS receiver has not locked in the position.

The data string that begins:
GPGSV... is "bad data" because the receiver has not locked into the satellites.

Whereas:
GPGSA... is "good data" indicating that the receiver has locked into the satellites. Remember - "A-Okay"

4. Once the data is flowing, go outside away from buildings, select the Satellites tab (Tools>GPS Status>Satellites), and watch the satellite signal strength

Hook up hdmi cable to receiver input have picture but no sound

HDMI is funny about having sound problems--it does not like to be connected when units are on or even powered up.

Does the receiver have any other hookup options?

about the only suggestion (presuming all is now connected correctly) is to remove power from TV, receiver, box if used for a while---make connections then power everything back up to see if when one or all units reboot it will work or not.

Vw beetle does not start. seems like its some kind of anti theft protection. the car/key icon lights up, it turns over for a second , then off. this is the first time this has happened, but we bought it...

First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.

  • Everytime when you had a new key you must programm all available ignition car keys before trying to start the engine with this new key !!!

    This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

    From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

    I have a 46 Samsung and when I turn on the TV I get sound but no picture. I get tv menus, sat menus, and dvd's work but no picture on sat.

    The problem of your tv is only the connection or the digital receiver. Try to check the cables that are connected in your tv specially the input,output of the digital receiver or use another cable for the video in of your tv if still no picture try to contact your satellite service provider the unit is may be defective. good day and hope that it may help thank's.

    Even Transponderds Zero

    Typically that indicates a bad LNB or connection to the LNB. Try moving the line to one of the other three ports on the LNB and if that doesn't work then you will need to replace it

    2006 dodge charger transponder key stopped working. car wont start anymore. i can open and lock the doors fine but just cant get the car to start

    This means that the programming of the Transponder Key has been corrupted or the Programming data of the Key in ECU ( Electric Control Unit ) has been lost or not responding. You now have to get a new Transponder Key. You can get it on E-bay for $30. After you receive it, reprogram the car to the New Transponder Key to the ECU ( the process in usually given in the instruction manual or in the Service Manual ). Then the car will start perfectly.

    Unit keeps reverting Sim mode

    It suggests that the transponder or wiring is faulty. I had the same problem and noticed the wire leading to the transponder was worn and exposed in a small area (it had rubbed against the aluminuium of the boat). I have yet to fix the problem - but it may mean a replacement transponder and connection!.
