I have the same problem with an SM913n 19" TFT monitor. All it says is not optimum resolution. Whatever I try nothing works. Have tried it on 3 machines and every possible setting, even fails on a Mac G5 (with DVI adapter). I took it back to PC world where they said it was working fine, though when I got back, exactly the same problem. If anyone can help I will be eternally grateful.

Is there some kind of factory reset I could try, ??

This LCD can work at 75 Hz refresh rate, btw much more healthy for your eyes, you can change it accessing Control Panel -> Display -> settings -> Advanced -> Monitor -> Screen Refresh Rate -> select 75 Hz.

Right Click on your desktop, then select properties. Then Advanced tab. Then you need to change your screen resolution. There will be a little slider that you can move left or right. Move it until you get it to the 1280x1024.

What happen when you hook this monitor up to other PC that has the video setting 1280 X 1024 60 Hz? Just ant to narrow down the problem before opening up the monitor. You may have logic problem in the logic board. If it does the same with other PC, then open it up and inpsect the inside for such thing as failed caps on the logic board or on the main power supply board, I think more likely to be ROM chip on the logic board is scrambled.

Does it show a picture in safe mode? If it does you might want to install drivers specific to the Monitor if you can find them.
