MFC-9840 prints vertical stripe ~2" from right edge on all color printouts

Sorry- I realize that the MFC-9420 isn't the same as the MFC-9840, but I didn't see a section for the 9840, so I hope it's OK.

We've got a new MFC-9840CDW that's been printing a small 1/4" vertical pinkish strips about 2" from the right side of the paper. It doesn't appear when you print/copy black and white and doesn't appear when you print/copy a blank piece of paper. It's most noticeable on any full color image - appearing slightly pink on gray backgrounds (noticeably) to being barely noticeable on darker colors such as blue. Thoughts? TIA

Thank you for the response. The problem was resolved by replacing the Laser unit by a field service technician. Prior to that, Brother attempted to throw parts at the printer by replacing the Drum Unit and Magenta toner cartridges.

Hi,
The first thing i would try to do is clean the corona wire on the drum unit. It might also be a faulty magenta cartridge.

MFC-9840 printing Yellow/Red/Blue strips in background. Any ideas why?

This is caused mainly by leaving the Corona Wire sliders anywhere other than where the arrows on the slider meets the arrows on the Drum Units. This leaves solid lines of colour down the length of the page (one per colour with the slider in the wrong place) if it is leaving more than the single line on the page it is probably leaking cartridges.

These particular cartridges are known for their ability to leak badly (OEM and Remanufactured cartridges do it). The only option for a leaking cartridge is to replace it and clean out the machine with a lint free cloth preferably a 'Toner Grabber' cloth. If you nee one of the toner grabber cloths then talk to your local cartridge refilling place for one. If they refil toner cartridges there then they probably have them or can suggest a different option.

My printer is low on yellow and magenta and is printing a stripe of each color on the papers edge.

Hi.
On the drums for each colour there is a purple/blue/green slider for cleaning the corona wire. If there is a stripe of colour anywhere on the page going from top to bottom check these sliders. They need to be where the arrow on the slider meets the arrow on the drum casing.

As for low toner on the Yellow and Magent - Replace the cartridges.

Why brother mfc 7360n printing envelopes wrinkle paper

Do U mean wrinkle the envelopes?,,,,I can solve some MFC-9840-CDW issues, but the 7369N is a guess. Read your manual or do a google search.....There maybe a setting in the 7360N that adjusts printing for card stock and envelopes....

I have a Brother MFC-9840 that comes up with Print Unable 21. I have cleaned as set out in maintenance to no avail. Please help. Thank-you

The MFC-9840 manual says that this code is reporting a mechanical error.
Try to reset your machine in maintenance mode:
menu * 2 8 6 4 (within 2 seconds)
91 and then 99 to exit service mode.

User manual:
http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_MFC_9840CDW_EN_2378.PDF

Brother's suggestion:

Turn off the machine's power switch and then

turn it on again. If the error message continues

leave the machine for several minutes and then
try to print, copy or scan again

Good luck.....

Replaced ink cartridges and now colors appear faded on brother mfc 9840

Check to see if you might have purchased Photo Magenta or other color by mistake. I had my daughter get me some ink and the clerk said that it would work fine so she purchased two replacement cartridges of Photo ink. Resulting in very light print color. This might be your problem. Worth checking.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Ink blobs on edges of printouts

Dear sir,

I figured out this problem it may cause; The problem behaves strangely why only on the right section the printout is not fused. The common section I first check is the high voltage circuit causing no static properties the powder shall be fused with the drum's developer. Now, it is clear also that the cause is within the drum. Pls check drum's life by printing the machine diagnostic details to check all moving and consumables counters. Clean the drum by rotating the developer roller. Well see if there's a irregularity of powder distribution. Have a nice day.

Dark Vertical Stripe on Right Edge of Screen

I experienced the same approx. 1/2" vertical stripe on a Viewsonic vx1945 and ATI Radeon x1050 video adapter on Vista Business SP1, but the stripe appeared along the left edge of the screen, instead of right edge. I then temporarily decreased the monitor resolution, and the stripe went away. I then increased the monitor resolution back to its original setting, and the stripe did not re-appear. So, that was the 'fix' in my situation, hope this helps.

My laser color 9420

Sometimes when toner starts to get low prints will faed or not print on sides. Make sure the printer is on a very level surface. Remove the toners and shake lightly left to right and reinstall.
