Swapping out a factory radio in a 2005 ford taurus

I recently swapped out my speakers in my 2005 ford taurus (Alpine) and had a kenwood bass put in my trunk. Now I find out that I cannot install a new radio/cd in the dash. The stereo man at the Ford place said that it is impossible to do this in the 2005 model, something about the airbags and they would have to order a "new part." I am a woman, and I don't understand the mechanical part of this. I am still getting OK sound, but not like I should with the alpine speakers and the factory radio. Can you explain it to me? Thanks, Robin

Go to www.the12volt.com look up your car in ther on wiring diagram then cut the wires and tape them up it simple as can be on car sterios i have ben doing car sterios about 6 years i know a litle bit all thay want you to do is spend more money my friend has a cadilac devill the car has a bose system in it the speaker wires are in the trunk and thay dont match anny color codes for chevy at all so what we did was ran a wire to the batery and 1 to a ground and another to a fuse witch will always be on like the fan or light fuse. 1other thing u can do is buy a rca adapter and hook it in to the factory sterio wiring mstlikely the rear spekers and run rca jacks and a little 300 wat amp will make them sound loud and clear if ther is no option for a after market cd player

I don't know about the air bag but you need a special fit kit and wiring harness due to the climate controls being built in with the radio as one unit. The new kit separates the climate controls from the radio, and leaves a hole for the radio of your choice to fit into. These kits are expensive and I suggest you try to get one from ebay. Sorry, thats the downside of a Taurus.

I have put the alpine cde126bt stereo into my car, correctly. the only problem now is how to get it to switch off when my ignition turns off, i have swapped the red and yellow wires, which should work, but...

you need to use a test light and find a wire that turns off when the key is off and a wire that is constant. the colors don't matter. but i would suggest using a wiring harnes from www.metra.com you can get them from best buy or any car stereo shop. this will save you time and make the install go a lot easier. all you do is wire it to the harness from the radio and then plug it in to the factory harness in the vehicle. piece of cake. might run you 15$

Most radios go into a silent protection mode when speaker wires are shorted, so it's worth checking those.

No sound to the in car speakers from my alpine cda-9827 cd player

What kind of car did you install this in? Did it have a factory radio in it? If I had to take a guess I would think that there is a factory amp that you may have hooked the blue wire from the alpine deck to. If this is the case when you switch to CD the alpine deck turns off the power to the power antenna lead(blue wire) and thus your factory amp. If this is the case hook the factory amp turn on to the blue and white wire and you should be good to go.
