Melted base of electric kettle FB 1735

Sept 1, 2009
Same problem - electric kettle FB 1735. The base has started to melt after 18 months.
I like the kettle, but not the smell of burning plastic nor the melted base. This is a fire hazard as well.

I have read in one of the Fixya answer, someone has written it may be the issue of power "you can check self, 12-13amp breaker, if in place unite a multimeter changed to ohms over the live and nuetral pins of the attachment (not connected to mains) the perusing ought to be between 0.05 ohms and 1.5 ohms if higher the component has burnned out or the over temperature sensor has enacted."
Otherwise you can call to support, there are lots of electric kettle review site offers technical support or consult with your near repair center.

Quit buying them, they are pieces of junk if the base keeps melting, that or you are using it beyond it's rated hourly heat time.

Probably the wires inside melted together and now as shor circuit occurs it causes the fuse to blow. remove the bottom of the kettle and check the wiring. There's no rocket science, so you'll identify the problem after visual inspection.
