HB-180 Leaf blower won't start

I get spark. after pulling the cord a few times the filter box is full of fuel and i believe the unit is flooded. The blower will not start at all, not even a putter.

i do know that it is getting a great spark. i am fairly sure there is a problem with the carb. I have never rebuilt a carb and the needle adjustments make me a bit nervous. What would be the best problem solving step to determine if i need to rebuild the carb? The carb is fairly oily and dirty on the outside.

If its flooded then it surly wont fire, not a 2-stroke. are you over priming or is there a malfunction. remove plug, put plug not a tester in the end of lead, ground, and pull. spark should be purple and consistent. if red/yellow/intermitent. change he plug. if the engine is only flodding on its own then the needle and seat could be stuck open in the carb, gas tank vent in fuel cap plugged and building tank pressure, or fuel mixed too rich. let me know what you find

Stihl br350 backpack blower will only spark when pulled fast. It will not start pulled fast or slow!

To start a small two stroke engine the rope needs to pulled rapidly. So from what you are saying I believe that your problem may not be in the ignition system. An engine needs three things to start and run- air, fuel and spark. Make sure that it is getting enough air by checking the filter and make sure if its a foam element that no foam has torn from the element and been sucked into the engine. Clean or replace a dirty element. Check the fuel filter and make sure that fuel can flow freely through it. Even a tiny amount of dirt can clog a filter enough to hinder flow to the carburetor. Replace the filter if it's dirty or over a season old. Clean the carburetor THOROUGHLY! Use a good quality carb cleaning spray and make sure the diaphragm isn't hardened or creased. Replace any part that's questionable. A way to test start the engine is to put a few drops of pure gasoline in the spark plug hole and quickly replace the plug and pull the cord to start it. If it starts for a moment the ignition system is good. Don't do this more than a few times cause a two stroke engine requires oil in the fuel to lubricate the rotating assembly and running straight fuel for more than a few seconds can damage the engine. Do not use starting fluid it damages two stroke engines.

Poulan leaf blower won't start

Check compression. 120-140 is good. over 100 it will run. Less than 90 is below service limit. Remove the muffler and look at the cylinder and piston. Do you see lines running up and down? a dull grey color? Those are signs that the motor is burnt up. The cylinder should be shiny, almost chrome, with no marks on the walls.
A severely flooded engine will give a false low compression reading. If no visible damage is found in the cylinder- its shiny with no marks- then reinstall the muffler, remove all fuel from the tank, open the choke, give full throttle and pull start cord several times. Maybe 10 or more times. If it starts keep the throttle open and let it run full speed until it runs clean. Then add good fuel and try to run. If it runs that's great. If it continues to flood itself the diaphragms are stiff and the carb needs rebuilt.

Toro model 30941 fuel leaking thru air intake

Its likely the diaghrams in the carb are stiff and holding the needle open causing the unit to flood. Remove the spark plug and turn the unit upside down over a towel and pull the start rope a few times. This will help remove all the excess fuel from the crankcase. Once the crankcase has been purged of excess fuel perform a compression test and check for spark. If its over 90 psi and you have spark rebuild the carb with new diaghrams.

ECHO PB251 BLOWER. Noticed fuel running out of muffler. Cleaned spark screen, installed new airfilter, fuel vent, fuel filter. Ran unit - engine quit while at full rpms - will not start. Clicking noise...

Your flywheel has come loose on enj., this throws the timing off so it is firing at all different times except for when it's supposed to. therefore raw fuel is running right through the cylinder and out exhaust, If you are lucky you won't have to replace the 60.00 flywheel! remove fan side of case, and remove blower wheel, then flywheel nut then flywheel, it has a built in key in it, usually this is wasted from coming loose, make sure you use loctite and an impact to tighten flywheel nut back after you repair/replace flywheel.

My Toro Personal Pace 22"

pull your spark plug and see if it will pull then, if so then it is hydro locked with fuel which can be caused y a bad fuel cap, not venting or a stuck open needle in carb causing gas to flood cylinder

Ran last year, won't start this year. Changed fuel and replaced spark plug. Checked spark and attempted to start with battery and tried with pull cord but no start. pulled plug and it had fuel on it so...

It might have tipped over on its side. Look at the air filter, if you see oil or gas on the filter then you might have to remove and clean the carburetor. I would start by cleaning/replacing the air filter and trying it again. If its getting fuel and the spark plug works then the only other side of the fire triangle is air.
