acer one aspire when you go to internet explorer it beeps and then locks up

I'd start with disabling all toolbars and addons for IE.
Start > Control panel > internet options
uncheck 'Enable third party extensions'
If IE still locks up, try opening a site from the 'run' command.
Start > Run.. http://www.google.com
First stop I would make is to get spyware/malware removal product and scan your machine. malwarebytes.com would be a good one to start out with.
