Motion computing m1400 tablet pc usb ports and sound

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly." pops up on my screen when I try to play a file with sound. when not run through Media Player, sound still won't work.

Another problem that happened at the same time is my usb ports won't recognize anything, such as the keyboard. It's light won't even come on. there has been no water or moisture or other damage to the computer.

please help! I have even tried a new keyboard. Nothing I have tried will work. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Very frustrating!

    when i download and try to do setup, it says object not present and tells me to restart. i tried it a few times with no luck...

    I'm wondering if you were ever able to successfully repair your USB problem.. my M1400 won't recognize anything either, thought the USB port is installing drivers successfully, nothing is detected when plugged in... Any reply will be helpful!

I suggest Windows XP Pro...
You can open a lot more programs than what you can on Windows Vista with the same amount of RAM etc....

Or you could go for Vista.
Is there a CD Drive does it connect to PC?
I have no idea how to work these.
If it connect's through USB Insert a Windows XP disk into your Drive reboot your PC and install it to remove able Drive.
If you want to ensure that it does not scrub your PC copy then disconnect your PC's Hard Drive.
Sorry if I make no sense I am tired.

According to Verizon support:
"From the Device to a Removable SD Card This feature is not available on the Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet"

However, you can transfer photos from the tablet to a computer; and then you can transfer them to a removable SD card if you have an external USB SD card port reader or one that's PC integrated.

According to Verizon customer support:
From the Device to a Computer
  1. Connect the device to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
    1. If necessary, select and hold the status bar (at the top) then drag to the bottom.
    2. Select Connected as a camera / an installer.
    3. Select Media device (MTP).
  2. Launch Windows Explorer.
    linote.gif Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E ( windows_key_logo.jpg+E) keys.
    linote.gif Alternatively, right-click Start then click Open Windows Explore.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, navigate: QMV7A.
    linote.gif If you have a microSD card, you may transfer files to that location by navigating: QMV7A > SD Card.
  4. Utilize the computer to copy video/picture files from the following folders to the preferred folder(s) on the computer:
    • DCIM/Camera
  5. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.

Why my computer can't detect my galaxy tab
There's several things that could be the cause here. I'm going to assume that you're plugging the tablet into the PCs USB port with the standard charging/data cable that came with your tablet.

Easy Solutions:
  1. You might have a bad cable. Try a different cable, if you have one.
  2. Your USB port might be bad - try plugging into a different USB port. If you're plugged into the front of the PC, try the ones on the back. Also try plugging a different device into the USB port that you were having trouble with - does the other device work in that port? If so, your USB port is OK.
  3. Go into the Settings app on your tablet. Select Storage and tap the menu (three dots in the upper right corner). Select USB Computer Connection from the menu. There will be two choices here: Media Device (MTP) and Camera (PTP). Try unchecking whatever one is checked and checking the other one. Unplug your tablet and plug it back into the PC.
More Challenging Solutions:
  1. You might not have the proper drivers for your PC to recognize your tablet. Samsung makes a software package for your PC to communicate with your PC called Kies. You can download Kies here: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ Download it and install it. Then plug your tablet into your PC and it should find it.
  2. There are other ways to transfer files between your PC and your tablet, some of them are really easy, some not so much. The easiest is the Dropbox app. Download the app from the Google Play store - it is free. Create a free account and sign in. Then on your PC go to www.dropbox.com and download their free Windows program. Install it and sign in with the same account info that you used on your tablet. This creates a shared space out on the Internet. Anything that you put in your dropbox folder will automatically get put in your dropbox folder on your PC. On your tablet you can look at what is in the dropbox folder and choose whether or not you want to copy it to your tablet. You can also upload files from your tablet to the dropbox folder (automatically putting them on your PC).
  3. Another way to transfer things between your tablet and your PC is the AirDroid app. You can download it from the Google Play store - it is free. When you use it on your tablet, it will give you a web address on your local WiFi. Go over to your PC and open a browser, go to that address and you can communicate directly with your tablet over WiFi. You can copy files, add and delete thigns, and all sorts of other functions. AirDroid is very useful.

How can I install win 7 on m1400
You can but I do not recommend it without upgrading your RAM to 1 gb. But you should be able to move the Win7 install files over to a flash drive and boot to it if you do not have a cd drive.

If your Motion Computing device originally shipped with Windows XP, then you have a license to re-install Windows XP onto your computer. Telephone the manufacturer, and order a set of "System Restore" CD disks. Use those disks to re-install Windows.

Install new os on motion le 1600
You can use an external USB drive, either CD or DVD dependent on your OS media.

I used a Phillips drive, with external power supply, to restore to factory settings using their restore CDs. I also installed Windows Vista Ultimate from DVD, without issues :)

If you are able to hear sound while starting PC issue is not with sound card. that is installed and working properly. If you are clicking on any file that is not playing then window media player is not supporting that file. If you are directly opening window media player from start>>Program>>access>>>>window player and it is giving error. It mean that your player is corrupted. You can upgrade that with higher version of player by going this link. www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player.aspx
