Vent was cloged with a birds nest now it wont heat

I have a whirlpool duet the dryer vent was cloged with a birds nest. I cleaned the nest out and vacummed the vent and the vent going into the dryer. I reconnected everything and started the dryer and now it doesn't heat. It turns and the timer works...we also after intially starting the dryer smelled a burning smell. Any ideas?
