Question about JVC AV-27D305 27" TV

Turns off on its own like it was in sleep mode

My TV works fine for about a minute or two then shuts down as if I had the sleep timer set. Pressing the power button does nothing after this happens. The power led will stay lit when the problem occurs. The TV will flash brightly just as it shuts down. I have two of the same televisions and only one of them does this. If I swap the sets the problem does not move with the TV. Could the cable feed coming into the problem room be too strong or too weak causing the set to shut down?

Re: turns off on its own like it was in sleep mode

I talked to some repair shops and found that the price for the average cost of fixing this problem was not worthwhile. I put the money into a 42" plasma HD set instead.

We have a Sony Trinitron Color TV that seem to be in a sleep mode and we can't turn it on. Would you know what the problem is?

Press the "Sleep" button on your Sony's remote control hanset until the TV displays the time in minutes [ 15,30,45,60 or 90] that you want the the TV to remain "on" before shutting "Off" automatically. Cancel by pressing until "Sleep Off" appears. The logo also will go out from the screen.
You just do this after unpluging the TV from AC wall socker for about 10 minutes or so, and then plug it.

Standby light is flashing 10 tims Model KV-HR36

Try unpluging your T.V. for 5hours+, then turn it back on. Worked for It's called a "hard reset" by sony.

Do the following steps
  1. Check the Sony remote for a button labeled "Sleep." This allows you to cycle through the sleep settings and determine how long you want the TV to remain on.
  2. Step 2 Press the "Sleep" button. You'll see a number come up onscreen: usually 15 or 90. When you press it again the number changes, moving up and down in increments of 15. This is the number of minutes the TV will remain on before it goes to sleep. As you cycle through it, you should see a setting with the words "Sleep Off" appear onscreen. If you leave it there, the sleep setting should cancel, allowing you to turn the set off when you like. If you miss it, just keep pushing the "Sleep" button. It will continue to cycle through the options until "Sleep Off" appears once again.
  3. Step 3 Access the timer function to shut off the timer by pressing the "Menu" button, then cycling through the onscreen options until you reach the "Applications" setting. Press it, and then cycle through to the "Clock/Timers" option.
  4. Step 4 Highlight the "Timer 1" setting and press the "+" button. If it's showing a given time, you'll need to deactivate it. Use the up and down arrows and move through the possible options until you come to the "Off" setting. Leave it there; that should shut the timer off.
  5. Step 5 Repeat the process with the "Timer 2" setting, a little further down the "Clock/Timers" menu. Set it to the "Off" position just as you did with the "Timer 1" setting.
  6. Step 6 Press the "Menu" button when you are done to exit the menu and return to the screen. You should be able to view the Sony TV as normal with no danger of it turning off.

good luck

TV will not come on with remote or power button

The following instructions are for the Emerson EWC1303/1903 tv/vcr. That's the closest match I could find to the Spongebob Squarepants 13' TV
If it's actually in Sleep mode, do the following:

Press the WAKE UP/SLEEP button on the remote
control until “SLEEP TIMER” appears.
To view the time left for sleep timer press the WAKE
UP/SLEEP button twice, then press the MENU button
on the remote control to exit the sleep timer setting

If unsuccessful, try unplugging the TV for 1/2 hour, then plug it in and try turning it back on either manually or with the remote. Either of these should solve your problem. Best of luck to you!
