Presser foot level on pfaff 1540 will not go down?

Hi Donna. The lube in your pressed bar had gone gummy. There is a spring inside the bar and it gets stuck. You will need to have a pfaff service tech clean and relube it. Could be included in a standard machine service.

Needle Jams In Bobbin Case Area pfaff 1540

First, make sure there is no debris and scraps of thread in the bobbin area. I'm sure you did that already. I assume you also tried it with another thread just to be sure. I would suspect that the timing went out of whack. The machines depend on a synchronization between the needle motion and the bobbin action underneath. I once had a Singer that slipped and I had to reset the timing. If it is the timing synch problem then it would happen consistently and not work sometimes and then not work other times. G

Hi, I have lost a small screw on the right-hand side of the needle plate. I have tried taping it but I still get a vibration, when sewing. Where can I get the right screw? Mickey

If someone you know has a screw thread measuring device. you might be able to measure the inside threads of the hole. Otherwise perhaps a parts machine purchase is in order.

Pfaff select 1540 bobbin thread jam

if there is a thread in the hook area try taking a pair of needle nose
pliers to try & get the thread out, if that doesn't work then you might
think about taking the machine to a sewing machine shop to have the
machine checked since the needle will not go up & down & handwheel
won't move

Lost manual-don't know how to thread machine or try:

The threading instructions are free if they have your machine...if you want a guide book for using the machine or servicing it, then there is a cost to receiving that information.

- resetting the timing

I have been an upholsterer for over 30 years, I own a Pfaff 145 and Pfaff 545. Both are basically the same. Whenever my timing is off, where the threaded needle won't connect with the bobbin thread, I have always had success in re-setting the timing by taking apart the entire bobbin case. Remove the walking foot and the plate it walks on. Remove the bobbin and dismantle everything underneath it. Keep each piece and its screws together, and remember the order in which you removed it (last goes in first, etc.)Remove any obstructions, thread, fluff, etc. Surprisingly, when you put it all back together, your timing will be back to normal. This has always worked for me, and I hope it'll work fo you.

Thread shreds with Pfaff

I have the book on that machine as well and I have had that problem. Here is what had happened to me: I was soooooo tired of that shreading thing that I took a flashlight and aimed it up the nose of the machine by the lightbulb and fould there to be a nice little rats nest wrapped around the take-up lever and the needle bar. I spent the next three hours getting to that nest with the skinniest and longest tools I could find. Oh it is was fun!
