Re: Cleaning my love seat
There is a portable shampooer/sprayer that attaches to the hose ( the long one that makes the kirby a canister vacuum). It should have come with your attachments. Looks a bit like a gun without the tank attached to the bottom...the tank screws on.
To use it you would put the fingerguard attachment on the front of the kirby where the powerhead would normally go and the hose with the portable shampooer where the bag would go.
The tank on the portable sprayer/shampooer has lines to indicate how much water and shampoo are needed.
Be sure to put the mesh nozzle (sort of a triangular shaped thing with a piece of mesh along the front that attaches to the front of the portable sprayer) on the front of the portable sprayer if you want to shampoo..otherwise it will just spray a mist. The triangular piece with the mesh screen is what produces suds.
Vacuum the furniture thoroughly before shampooing. Once you've covered it with suds, pop the suds into the fabric using your hands...working the bubbles into any heavily soiled areas with a soft brush.
Then let it dry. 15 minutes to and hour depending on the amount of solution used.

The Kirby Omega was made from 1973 to 1976. The classic III 1976 to 1979 When in for repair the case (motor cover) from a Classic could be put on the Omega. This happens in repair shops if the teck. has two apart at the same time and was not paying attention. Omega brown tells the true story. That is (Maybe) as all that could be changed as well. A lot of parts will interchange with one another.
Because of the traditional means of suction, air watts can only be justified in vacuums like Dyson that have 100% suction all the time. Therefore even the most expensive bagged upright (or bagless that doesn't have Dyson technology) will lose suction the moment a new bag is put in. Don't believe that air watts are true unless you have a Dyson.

http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=11557&thid=579274 How do I attach and use the shampooing attachment... Posted by rottylvr on May 08, 2008 I have a Kirby Vacuum and Carpet Cleaner that I know how to use, all except the attachment that I am not sure about. I am not sure if it is a vacuuming attachment or can I attach it and use it to clean my couch, I do not have the user guide for my vacuum as I got it from my son's ex girlfriend in lieu of money she owed me. It looks like it should be used for shampooing things like stairs and furniture, but for the life of me I cannot figure it out! Can you please help me? Tell me how to attach it if it is supposed to be used to clean stairs and furniture or tell me where I can find the user guide to look at and see how to use it......Oh by the way I have a 160 pound rottweiler that tries to live on my furniture and my couch is in desperate need of cleaning, this is my only day off and I have spent all day cleaning carpets due to my dog and would love to clean my couch before returning to work and putting my dog in the back yard now that it is warm enough for him to be outside all day. Thanks, Desperate to reclaim her couch
Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. My suggestion is that you contact the Kirby Co in Cleveland listed below and they will instruct you either to down load a owner’s manual or they will mail one out to you, there might be a local Kirby dealer in your area that might have a manual as well. Also, there is a separate shampoo head that will be in the owner’s manual, you remove the vacuum head and bag assm and attach the shampoo head, make sure you use genuine Kirby shampoo for the carpet. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://kirby.com/Customer Service – United States & Canada1-800-494-8586 Hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (EST)U.S. & Canada Fax # 1 (216) 529-6146 Mail To: Consumer Relations The Kirby Company 1920 West 114 Street Cleveland, OH44102 Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead. I love my Kirby and shampooer, but I am wondering if there are any ways to clean stains in small/tight spaces (in corners, between furniture, etc)... my old carpet shampooer had a "hand tool" attachment with spinning brushes, but I don't see anything similar for Kirby... I imagine I could put a tiny bit of solution down and use the zip brush, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea...? I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I believe that Kirby does make a spinning brush and If I remember it is a round brush that spins and probably will not get into square corners – suggest using a scrub brush with the Kirby Shampoo for corners and steps for areas that you cannot get into – use an old spray bottle to wet down the area that you are cleaning and use the scrub brush and if you do find the Kirby spinning brush that will do the large areas.
