It could be the switch or could be the suction motor. Also, there is a thermostat on the motor that will shut it off if you don't have the air flowing to keep it cool. If that is the case, the motor will re-start after it cools down.
If the motor dosen't start, the cheepest way to start is to buy a new switch and install yourself. Just make sure where the wires go. The single terminal is to the front and the two terminals to the rear. The black wire goes to the front single terminal, the red wire goes to the far back terminal and the blue wire goes to the front back terminal. The suction motor should come on first and then the power nozzel. If not in that sequence, reverse the blue and red wires.
If that fails, take it to the Aerus/Electrolux shop.

Replace belt on Electrolux Epic 2500 SR Upright

1. Start by removing the screws that secure the bottom plate of your vacuum. 2. Once the bottom plate is removed, you will find the belt inside, as well as the belt pulley and drive wheels. 3. Disconnect the belt from the belt pulley. 4. Align the new belt over the belt pulley and drive wheels so that the teeth of the belt match up with the grooves on the pulley. 5. Wrap the belt around the pulley and drive wheels, and then reattach the belt to the pulley with the supplied clips. 6. Reassemble the vacuum and you're done!

How do I get reverse suction with the electrolux epic 6000?

I have no idea just what reverse suction would be or how to get it from ANY vac. If you're looking at getting the blowing air from the vac instead of suction, then simply move the hose from the suction end to the exhaust end.

Why does my Electrolux epic 6000 sr shut off with suction?

Hi,

If this Epic 6000 is shutting off when you either just turn it on or while vacuuming with it...it\'s one of several things...1. Change the bag if you\'ve been picking up a lot of "fine" dust such as drywall dust or carpet freshener powder. That\'s ******* them. 2. Being the machine is over 22 yrs. old, the suction control valve inside either needs to be replaced or just cleaned well. This is the usual cause of the vac shutting off especially if you\'ve tried the dial in several different settings. Hope that helps!

Electrolux Epic Series 6500 SR. The machine is 15 yr. old & is working beautifully. However, when operating it emits a terrible stink, like cat *****. I've changed bags & filters but no ch

You need to have the vacuum cleaned out. If you are good with tools, just remove the motor and fans assembly, take the fans off and wash them. Brush ALL dirt out of the housing and reassemble. Your Electrolux dealer can do this but it isn't cheap. I used to be the service manager for my area. Since it isn't under warranty, you can have ANY reliable vacuum cleaner shop give a good cleanout. NEVER put anything into the cleaner to make it smell good. Electrolux cleaners get their power by having a straight through suction. The air goes through the motor. Adding smelly things can crystallize onto the motor and burn it out.

Electrolux Epic 6500 Vacuum - Suction stops when hose is attached

If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial.

You can ship the vacuum to http://evacuumstore.com/ and they can reapir it for you.

Series 6500 SR won't start

Look for a restriction somewhere in the suction system. Inspect every last inch of it so you know it is clear.

My Electrolux upright worked fine

Are you using the proper bag? There's a kill/reset switch that needs to be pushed down by the rim of the bag before the unit will run.
