Fonts wont be embedded when converting a document to OCR. You'll have to change fonts & styles manually... sorry but it has to be done this way..

I have a hand writing document which is been scanned in to an image format and now i want to convert the scanned handwriting document in to normal text which can be editable and searchable

You need OCR software (optical character recognition), though you didn't mention the format of the image format file that you have. You may consider using this freeware software to perform your OCR:

Everytime i scan a document on my lexmark all in one it doesn't come up as a letter in order for me to edit it for my changes.

When you scan a document, basically all you're doing is taking a picture of it. You end up with an image file that you can view, but not a text file that you can edit. You need an optical character recognition (OCR) program to convert the scanned image into text.

The CD that comes with an all-in-one printer or standalone scanner almost always includes some OCR software. You didn't give a model number so I can't look it up on Lexmark's site to see what downloads are available, but you can check for yourself if you don't have the disc. OCR capability is also available if you have Microsoft Office installed, and you can find under "Microsoft Office Tools". Several free OCR applications are also available on the Web.

OCR programs aren't 100% accurate. The don't always get it right, so expect to have to do some correcting in the text file that's created. Some fonts, sizes and page layouts confuse the software, and some programs are better than others. But in any case, it's better than having to type the entire document in by hand.

I have a scanned PDF document that I want to highlight and previously when the text wasn't recongnized it would ask to convert. At one point I checked the "do not ask again" box and now I am...

Basically Acrobat comes with a feature called as OCR (Optical Character Recognition) which helps acrobat in recognizing the text being used in a particular scanned document.
Just for the information, Acrobat 7 used to come with OCR accuracy of approximately 85% which has increased to 95% accuracy in the latest version of Acrobat (Acrobat X)
Now, in Acrobat 7, what you need to do is try running the OCR again on this document by following the steps mentioned below:
  • Open the document in Acrobat 7
  • Go to Document menu at the top
  • Click OCR text Recognition option under that menu
  • Then Recognize Text using OCR under that
  • This will open recognize text dialog box
  • Make sure All Pages option is selected in the new dialog box
  • Then click the edit button available in the same dialog box
  • This should open recognize text setting dialog box
  • Select Clearscan option in PDF Output Style drop down
  • Click Ok and then Ok again which should start the OCR on the open document
  • After OCR successfully completes try highlighting the text and see if you can do it
If you are still unable to do it, I would suggest you to download the trial version of Acrobat X from adobe.com which is a fully functional version which you can use for 30 days. After downloading this trial try opening the same document there and try running the OCR again and perform the highlighting of text again in Acrobat X itself.
If it still does not work please reply back with the results of the above mentioned steps and we can try performing some other workarounds to make the text recognizable.

OCR documents not transferring correctly in Microsoft word as a readable document

Optical Character Recognition used to be a nightmare, but not so much anymore. Theres no secret skill and you probably aren't doing anything wrong.

Here's a few tips:

1. your DPI setting should be set at 300, however, 200 is best.

2. Font Size, should be set at 10 or 12 and large fonts 72, for instance, will scan as an image only.

Now Here's Your Biggest Problem:

3. You need either the OCR-A or OCR-B font, it's free at Microsoft if you have Word, at:

If you have an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program to run the images through you can extract the text and edit the document text. Microsoft Onenote has an excellent built in OCR.

What do you mean by (ocr) on an x2670

Optical character recognition, usually abbreviated to OCR, is the mechanical or electronic translation of scanned images of handwritten, typewritten or printed text into machine-encoded text.
These can be scanned in a word processor or other programs, then can be modified. It is software usually include with your Printer/Scanner

How can I scan a documtent and save it in my word processor

A scan of a document is only a picture of the document. That is, it's the same as if you had just used a copying machine. It's not text that you can work with. You need to take that scanned image and feed it to an optical character recognition (OCR) program to convert it into text that you can use. Most scanners come bundled with OCR software when you buy them. You can also look on the internet for OCR programs.

Once you have OCR software installed, many scanners will automatically feed the scanned image to the OCR program when you scan a document. Be ready to do some extra work, though. While it's good, most OCR software is not 100% accurate. Depending on the font and formatting used in the original document, the program may decide on the wrong character when converting. You will also lose formatting (font sizes, types and so on), and end up with plain text. You'll need to put that in yourself when you paste the text into your Word document.

After I scan text, I cannot put it into a Word document, edit, or anything. I have an Epson 2400. thanks I do not have the scanner directions.

In order to scan to word so a document is editable you need to use Optical Character Recognition Software (OCR). You can download free ocr software from www.simpleocr.com Use that software and then either export once scanned to Word or Save as a Word document in the OCR application.

CAN i SCAN A DOCUMENT TO MY PC

Yes you can, you must use OCR to do that, OCR means Optical Character Recognition, first you must scan the hard copy and save it as TIFF format and run through OCR reader, take note that convertion is not perfect, you still have to edit words that are not read correctly.

You can download OCR reader on this link: http://finereader.abbyy.com/?gclid=CK6C96aflZ4CFRgbawodiDZ2oQ

Hope this helps.
