Presario 2170us locked of cmos

Like a dummy I decided I no longer wanted a password at boot, went in cmos backspaced on the word, hit f10 and forgot to disable it. Now when it turns on it wants a password which I backspaced away, I tried all kinds of words etc. I want to reset the cmos but cannnot locate the battery. I got all the screws out except for some reason its still held together by something in the middle of the keyboard area, I can pry the sides up and get to most areas shined a light in and don't see a battery,
Can someone tell me where the battery is located?

Thanks,
Billy

I found no pins or jumpers as with desk tops which I'm familiar with. I'm trying to find out how to reset the bios password. Does anyone have specific knowledge of a procedure to do this for this particular model. I need more than general possibilities.

    Thanks,
    Billy

Usually on desktop there is some sort of pin you have to move to clear the cmos memory.. usually is the nearest to the battery..
the thingy has 3 pins and one plastic thing over two like the ones that have the DISK DRIVES to chose on how you want to run that Drive (master, slave, or cable select)...
to make it work, you turn off the pc and then you move that to the other two pins, turn it on.. and get into cmos and fix your password...
then put the pin back to where it was and you are done...
thats the procedure to make it work on desktop, maybe it can help you with your laptop

I forgot my cmos password what will i do to reset it

You're out of luck. A forgotten CMOS password cannot be bypassed or reset. You are stuck with a locked CMOS.

This only means the CMOS settings are not accessible. This shouldn't stop your computer from booting. That would be the CMOS boot-up password. If you can boot you can reformat. But, you cannot reformat (flash) the locked CMOS.

If you can't boot into the O/S then you're stuck until you can remember your CMOS boot-up password.

Next time, write it down and keep it safe.

Forgot password on compaq 700

If it`s the BIOS password you forgot unplug the CMOS battery from the motherboard. Leave it disconnected for at least ten minutes before reconnecting.
If it`s the Windows password just download Kon-Boot. Google it.

Hp pavillion dv2700 administrator password

Through DOS to fix this?
I think you mean how to reset in safe mode.

Well, we can use safe mode to recover the common account, but to reset administrator password , we should use reset disk.

Do you have created reset disk before?
If not, you can use Windows Password Reset to create a new reset disk.

If you are talking about problem with your password

You need to prepare:
1:A blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive
2.A computer which can link to internet
3.A program called Windows Password Recovery 6.0

Get started with this 3 simple steps:
Website: http://lost-password.net/products/windowspasswordrecoery.html
Step 1 - Download windows password recovery utility and install it.
Step 2 -Burn your Windows Password Reset CD:
To burn your CD, you'll need a blank CD-R and the .ISO file of Windows Password Reset.
Step 3 - Put in your newly created CD and remove your Windows password.
hope this helps

Unlock Bios Compac evo

On most PCs you can open the BIOS by hitting while the computer is booting: Del, F10, F2, Alt+Enter, F1. These are the most common but if they don't work just hit keep hitting your different "F" keys each time you boot one of them should open the BIOS. If the BIOS is password protected you'll need to either remove the BIOS/CMOS battery or short out the reset jumper on the motherboard.

Can't boot and forgot bios password on ibm r50e

Yikes. You've set a password on the BIOS and don't remember it?

Well, most manufacturers set a "backdoor" password on the bios that will allow you to get in. It used to be the backdoor PW for IBM was "merlin" but that may no longer be the case. If you absolutely cannot get in, then your option is to open the case to the laptop and disconnect the CMOS battery for about 15 seconds and then reconnect it. That will clear the CMOS to the factory defaults.

I wish you well with this.
Thanks for using FixYa!!
