first; re-place your console to a better ventillated area, use a vacuum cleaner to **** dust out of the grills. if this doesnt help, that means your laser lens is approaching death.
1. Make sure you REMOVE any discs from your XBOX' tray. 3. Turn on the console again, either by using the controller or the POWER button (NOT the EJECT button) and WAIT for the initial XBOX setup. ... This fixes the OPEN TRAY error 100 % of the time on my XBOX 360. XBOX 360 cd rom is not reading discs Google Search
Your PS3 may not be freezing entirely. Look in the top right hand corner of the screen, if the loading sphere is there you've nothing to worry about, and I would reccomend just waiting it out (it unfreezes). If it is not there it is a legitimate freeze and would reccomend sending it off and/or updating the system firmware.
NEVER EVER TURN YOUR SYSTEM OF WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING ONLINE AND THE GAME FREEZES!!!...
Just try to wait for 30 - 50 sec.
If that does not work than EJECT THE DISC AND THAN TURN OF THE SYSTEM, It has nothing to do with your PS3, Check your connection status and reset all your internet settings BUT NOT THE SYSTEM ITSELF.
If this still doesnt work than there's something wrong with the disc.
Freezing is due to heat issues and/or scratched discs. Mostly heat. I have seen MANY PS3 mother boards that have not had enough heatsink paste applied to the CPU or GPU by Sony to disperse the heat evenly. Also another common problem is dust build up. No matter how clean you think the inside is, there is always dust build up. The easist way to clean it is to get a can of compressed air and stick the straw into the front and side holes and let it rip. It should blow 70-80% of the dust build up out the back of the PS3. You will may even see a cloud come out as I have so many times.
Now for the COD4 online problems....the company that made the game and supports the online play (Infinity Ward) has cut back the number of servers used to support the online game play since the traffic has slowed down. Unfortuantly, I think they scaled back too much. I sold my copy of this game because it was too hard to get into a lobby and stay there for more then 3 min.
I hope this helps you both out. Good luck and happy gaming!!
