These can last up to 15-20 years if you take care of them.

It is probably electronic gas valve, or safety valve that let the gas flow and shuts off immediately. Better take it to the repair shop will save yourself $75.00 service fee.

check for restriction in vent duct. if there is good heat but takes to long to dry then there is restricted air flow through unit.

Clean the lint filter(s) and verify unobstructed dryer exhaust. 99% of the time the dryer exhaust is clogged.

I would start by checking the venting for obstructions. disconect the hose and try a load. dont leave the hose off for too many loads as the lint and moisture will go into the room.
