Question about Panasonic AG-EZ30 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Panasonic AG-EZ30 motor noise nothing moving

Hi, I've got a second-hand EZ30 which I knew had recording problems with the heads. I just want to use it as a camera and burn to a dvd. But it came with motor noise that runs constantly no matter what you do, whether there is a tape in it or not, etc. But I can't actually see anything moving in the works when I look inside. Any ideas?

It's definitely a motor. It's a grinding sound. Given this answer, my guess is that it's the ejection motor that's grinding away.
Sounds like it's at the bottom near the middle. The only time I can get it to stop is when I switch it from vcr to camera, and then only for a moment. Otherwise it runs as long as the camera is on. Is there any way to stop the motor? Again, I don't really need the tape record function, just the camera. Also, when you put a tape in and try any kind of playing, it pulls the tape out of the cassette.

Oh, and there are no error messages except that it doesn't recognize that the record tab is set to "record"

Well if it uses a tape mechanism .It will only have 3 motors .LOADING, CAPSTAN and HEADS.If one of these is running without tape ,you should get an error of somekind of your screen .If there is no error from mech then noise is possibly an electrical whine from the LCD panel power supply and or main camera power supply .

I have a Panasonic AG-HVX200. We use it record our services on Sunday. We recorded 4 times yesterday and when I go to play the video back it's just a blue screen. I have tried several tapes and it does...

try running a dry head cleaning tape for about 5 to 10 seconds. if it improves, but still has problems, run it again for another 5 to 10 seconds. There is a possibility that your heads were dirty when you recorded and therefore the footage did not record correctly. Hopefully, that is not the issue and the head cleaning tape will help.....Sony has the best one that we have found and we use it on all different brands of camcorders. My brand new Panasonic AG HVX200A makes a rattling sound

This is not a problem actually, but is the sound of a moving coil used for O.I.S.It seems that when power is off this part is moving freely, that's all don't worry.

Mini DV Tapes are not playing back. Nothing but blue screen when I try to view tape...no time code...nothing. Recently recorded footage plays back fine though?????

If recently recorded plays back ok, and there's no warning about low rf or head clogging problems,it seems to be electronic problem in vtr board, but usually is head problem, which is not so expensive.

clean the heads; often, heads that will play back a pre-recorded tape may not record because of dirt.

yes. clan it now because particles that come off the magnetic tape or videotape can build up on the record/playback heads, reducing the signal quality.

Panasonic AG-455 Problem

The noise is most likely bad bearings in the video head assembly. No longer available from Panasonic. The b/w recording problem is most likely caused by a bad video board inside the camera. Unfortunately, the video board is also no longer available.

Most likely the flex cable connection to the video head is dirty. A good repair shop will be able to handle this.

My Hitachi VM H710A plays just fine, and the picture looks fine. But when it playsback footage or records footage, five to ten seconds later, it stops abruptly, and flashes the word "TAPE". First thing I must add, is that I was using a prerecorded videotape, and was testing it from the beginning of the cassette and the middle of the cassette. I thought maybe the heads were dirty, and so I cleaned them using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. I cleaned the head drum with a piece of paper soaked with rubbing alcohol so that I wouldn't get any fibres in the heads. I waited for it to dry and then I put a cleaning cassette inside. To which, it still stopped abruptly five to ten seconds in during playback. I then decided to look at the manual of the camcorder and see the symptom. It says that due to temperature changes that it might cause this symptom. I placed it in a cool room and left it there all day and checked on it, and the camcorder is still doing the same thing as before hand. Then another cause said that it might sense some moisture. I made sure that the camcorder was dry externally and internally, and yet still, same problem. Thats when I decided to take it apart and look inside to see if there was anything odd inside the camcorder causing it to function the way it does. The belt seemed to be working fine, and there was no missing parts. The tracking poles and path alignment was fine, and not loose. Everything simply seemed just fine. So I am unsure as to why my camcorder is operating like this.
