Could be two different things -- either the pump is not moving water through the sprayer arm, or the sprayer arm isn't free to spin around.
I've fixed one of each in the past year, so either is reasonable.

First, check the easy one -- the sprayer arm.
Open the dishwasher and pull the bottom tray forward so you can reach the sprayer arm.
Reach in and try to spin it around by hand. It should move freely, and if you flick it around, it should spin a full turn around before stopping.
If it's unable to move at all, then look for something stuck like a fork or plastic bag.
If it moves, but very quickly stops spinning, it might be a foreign object or it might need a new sprayer arm assembly. The one I got this year was $38 including shipping.

If the sprayer arm is free and easy to move, then check the water pump:
Start the dishwasher and listen. When it's done filling and sounds like the wash cycle, quickly unlock and open the door.
It shouldn't spray water in your face, but there should be lots of water dripping from the racks and the top (and the dishes, if it's loaded when you do this test!)

If not, then the problem is either a failed main pump or a blocked pump, and the repair will be a bit more money and a lot more time.

If this helps, be sure to click the thumbs-up to tell me so!

Why do i have antifreeze leaking out from d my pullies?

You probably have a water pump that is leaking. There is what they call a weep hole at the bottom of the pump housing and this is where the coolant would leak out on to the front of the crank pulley which would possibly get in the belt pulley grove of the crank pulley and spread it around when the engine is running. You could have a leaking thermostat gasket or upper radiator hose which connects to the motor that is leaking. There is no antifreeze which circulates in your pulleys nor are they filled with antifreeze.

I have a kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDMOITJBLO installed as new unit in Oct. 2002 in a new home. Current problem is water coming from front door, bottom as unit starts wash cycle after filling. Leak is...

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.I would start by removing the outer door panel remove the screws around the inner door to do this. Then close the door and start a cycle. Sometimes you can see obvious signs of leaks just by removing the panel too. But if not let it run and see if you see water leaking anywhere. You will see water in the bottom corners its normal. If water is splashing over those corners the check the lower spray arm gor damage or cracks it can cause this problem also make sure the screws under the spray arm are tight. also check the upper arm.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

Whirlpool dishwasher has food particles baked on.

Heating element may fail. This will lead to the machine stopping part way through its cycle

Pumps. There are 2 pumps in most dishwashers. The drain pump,( which describes itself -it pumps the water out of the machine.)
The recirculating pump which forces the water at high pressure through the spray nozzles and arms. (This is how the cleaning action is performed)
These pump may either leak, or burn out. Either way, the only solution is replacement.

Dishes in upper tray coming out not so clean!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do rate this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

My dishwasher runs thru the cycles but the water only gets in the bottom...it does not spread the water. My dishes never get wet. Waht to so?

sounds like water inlet valve is not opening. also depending on where the float switch is some times detergant piles up around it and wont let it work right. checkthis .and if not need model number.

Top Arm does not spin so glasses are not cleaned and detergent is not rinsed out of holder very well.

Make sure the water level is just at or below the heating element. Low water level will cause the pump to "run out of water" before all wash arms and connecting tubing are filled. A pulsing sound during the wash cycle will verify. Low water pressure or a bad water inlet valve are one cause. Water siphoning ou the drain line is another. Look under your sink and verify the drain line goes from the garbage disposal or sink tailpiece all the way up to the bottom side of the coutertop enroute to the dishwasher.

Leaky door

o.k. i think i can help you.look inside and remove the screens.you will see the heater and to the left of it are 2 sensors, clean them with a light grit sandpaper or emory cloth also there are 2 more that are on the right side back wall of the tank clean as well.unscrew the top and bottom wash arms with a pair of channelocks or pliers.inspect the seams of the wash arms and look for cracks or seperation.if they are they need to be replaced (this can cause the problem 50% of the time).those sensors tell the control board where the water level is at all times,if those sensors are dirty or malfunctioning the dishwasher will do all kinds of things.do you delime the unit?if not get clr (calcium lime rust) remover.you can buy at home depot, lowes, supermarkets, turn the dishwasher on,let fill and pour a cup of clr then run a cycle.deliming the unit keeps the sensors and tank clean.it could be a couple other things but try these first and let me know.

Bottom wash arm

there is a blockage but may not be obvious. arm turns only by water spraying out of the angled jets at the end of the arm. take arm off, run water thro the centre hole and this is udually enough to force the debris to the jets. clean out and check

Top rack dishes have grainy particles on them after washing and will not come clean.

Run the dishwasher and observe the spray arm,if split it will spray water down: Also check water in tub, is it filling up sufficiently to get near the heater? If it has a upper spray arm does it spray water? If not you may have a clogged upper spray arm.
