Brand new just tookout of container and wont stick to windshield

Sometimes the rubber plunger plastic/rubber new is not worn in yet, take rubber plunger part off, soak in warm water for a few minutes, then bend it in just a few times, put a dab og saliva on it stick it on and push lever back firm, twist suction cup some before putting lever down to secure it. If this helped, please rate with 4 thumbs , to help me and others. Thanks mike from fixya

My etrex vista cx will not turn on- new batteries installed

as its new, it would be unwise to fiddle around with it. Return it for exchange,
Before you do though make sure that the batteries are good and have been inserted in the correct polarity.

Etrex Vista is a very robust unit and most reliable generally, so this is unusual.

Cannot get bolt to hold charger cable to shycaddie body

I have the same thing, and just dug out the rubber ring where the thumb screw fits tight to the back of the unit. This has helped so far, but best shot is new cable, which I am sure I will have to get also.

I have a new computer with Windows Vista and when I connected the Nextar M3-03 to it, It tells me the driver is out of date? I don't know that much about this so is there someting I can do or do I need to...

the solution might be as simple as going to Nextar's website and downloading a new driver that's compatible with vista. A problem I had when I purchased a new computer is that it had a 64bit vista operating system which rejected too many programs and drivers were not available. My solution was to install the 32 bit vista and it solved many, not all, of my problems. Good luck.

Call Garmin customer service, they are wonderful. My rubber thing around the outside became loose, and they sent me a new unit, even though it was almost 2 years old.

Go to the Holux support website at:

NOTE: All quote marks are added by me for emphasis only.

Under the "Select products Catagory" dropdown choose "GPS Receiver/Data Logger".
Under the "Select products series" dropdown choose "Mouse Type GPS Receiver" and

click on Submit. A new page opens showing various receivers. Scroll down to the GR-213u

GPS Receiver and see the one called "GR-213u Driver Program-Vista Driver". It is of a type

of file compression called "rar" which may require a unzip program. I use a free program,

"Secure Zip for Windows". Click on the little yellow box at the far right of the "GR-213u

Driver Program-Vista Driver" line. It will be labeled "9618869.rar". Save the file.
It should be found by clicking on the Vista START and then your user name & should be in

the "Downloads" folder as "9618869.rar".
Creat a new folder for the actual unzipped file by clicking on the the Vista START Icon

& then "Documents". Click on the "Organize" tab & then on the dropdown "New Folder".
Name the new folder "Holux Vista Drvr" & then open it.
Now back at the "Downloads" folder open (Unzip) the "9618869.rar" file. Copy the new

folder "GR-213u Driver Program-Vista Driver" to the "Holux Vista Drvr" folder you created

in "Documents", so that you can later delete all those files that may have built up in

"Downloads"folder from doing lots of downloading.
Open the "GR-213u Driver Program-Vista Driver" folder & see the setup file

"PL2303_Prolific_Vista_3301.exe". The size should be about 2724 KB. Open it to start the

driver install. Now you are almost done.
After Vista has done its driver install, go to "Control Panel" & open "Device Manager".

Now plug in your Holux GR-213 & the "Device Manager" should now show a new entry

called "Ports (COM & LPT). Click on the little + sign to expand it & you should see

"Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)". The # represents your Comm Port number

used by the Holux. Right click on "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)" & click on

the dropdown "Properties". Click on the tab "Port Settings"at the top of the "Properties"

window. Change the value in "Bits per second" from 9600 to 4800 & click OK.
Hopefully you have installed the Holux Utility "GPS Viewer" with a shortcut on the

desktop. Open the "GPS Viewer" & click on "Scan". A new window "GPS Scanning" opens

showing GPS found at the same Comm Port # that shows in the "Device Manager". Click on

OK & the scan window closes now showing the same Comm Port#. Click on "Open GPS" &

then on "Cold Start or Warm Start" & all the satellites found should show up. You can close

the "GPS Viewer" & all the other open windows. If all went as described any software you

used with Win XP using GPS should work OK now with Vista.
Now run your software (MS S&T or whatever) & make sure its GPS Settings show the same

Comm Port# as in "GPS Viewer" & baud rate of 4800.

Rubber band around case got loose, then broken

I had the same problem with my Vista 1 year ago. I tried the contact cement and worked fine for a couple of weeks. I tried another brand of contact cement and had the same problem (the adhesive unsticks from the rubber band). I finally solve the problem cleaning everything (be sure to remove ALL of the adhesive from both gps and rubber band to ensure a good contact between them) and putting some drops of Locktite instant glue on the water protective layer side, and then carefully place the rubber band on its place (don't forget that you have only a few seconds to work with instant glue) . Just be carefull and don't apply adhesive very close to the buttons. It worked for me for more than 11 months....and still working...
